NVE 1 – HOMECOMING – DETROIT – July 18-20, 2014

500 VOA members returned to Detroit for Homecoming in the summer of 2014.

“When we started this new club, members told us clearly there were a couple of things were really important to them in a national club – a close relationship with the manufacturer, and the opportunity to meet with Viper friends from around the world at national gatherings,” explains VOA president, Maurice Liang, “So we thought, ‘What better way to show VOA’s support for Dodge/SRT than to bring our most rabid Viper owners to their doorstep for our first national gathering?’” SRT opened the doors to the Viper plant and Chrysler Proving Grounds, and we built our event around that. The venues and the hotel ballroom limited the event size to 500 people, so our first national event sold out in a record 28 hours!

On Friday, the caravans arrived enmass at the Viper plant for a tour and BBQ with plant employees. Later that evening, we dined at the Viper Café at the Walter P. Chrysler museum. On Saturday, we visited Prefix, where Vipers are painted, for a tour, and were treated to a surprise when they unveiled the Medusa Viper convertible. Four orders were placed on the spot! Then, we headed to the charming German-themed town of Frankenmuth for some relaxing fun. That evening, we boarded a riverboat and watched the sunset on the sparkling Detroit skyline as we dined and danced.

Early Sunday morning, we headed to Chrysler’s Chelsea proving grounds for some autocross time and fast laps around their famed high-speed oval. We also got to drive their Gen V Vipers on the roadcourse. Meanwhile, other members who weren’t into the track scene went toured the famous Dodge mansion and shopped and lunched together. That evening was the grand finale dinner, where Tony Perugini was the lucky winner of the best door prize ever – a brand new SRT Viper Launch Edition! Not bad for our first party!
