Seca. However, Randy Pobst did lap the ZL1 1LE at MRLS, and the results are stunning. He managed a 1:34.30. For some context, the previous-gen Z/28 did a 1:37.82. The sixth-gen SS 1LE ran a 1:37.77. Last year’s Best Driver’s Car winner, the carbon-fiber-tubbed mid-engine McLaren 570S, posted a 1:34.58. The 2012 Corvette Z06 used to be the production-car record holder. It lapped Laguna in 1:34.43.

Interesting as zr1/TA did 1:33:xx at laguna. And acr 1:29-1:31 so high hopes for acr at the ring

Actually the ACR did a 1:28-1:31 so yes very high hopes for the ACR at the Ring.

Someone on another forum hinted that one of the GTS-R running the Ring is a stage 2. Is this true? That would be great to have the stock car numbers and the stage 2 numbers just for perspective.

Pure bullshit. Lets not start this rumor as it will taint the results.

Well I wasn't starting a rumor just relaying what sounded like a hint on another forum. I don't see them running both stock and a stage 2 as being a problem especially since it will be documented for all to see. I would think the Stage 2 owners would enjoy knowing what it could do on the Ring no? VE is a business after all.

point of all these ring times are to show what a factory vehicle can do. People scrutinize like hell even if you try to use slicks on these tests, much less a Stage 2 job

the point of why we are doing this and contributed is the PRODUCTION record .

Thank you Captain Obviouses. I think we all know the reason for the run. They are going to scrutinize this run regardless since the cars have cages in them. Nature of the game.

Seeing that tidbit about the stage 2 on the other forum just got me thinking that VE was in a unique position as a dealer and tuner to do both so it would have made business sense to do it as it would bring the production car record back to the Viper possibly and also shed worldwide light on their brand with the Stage 2 results etc. I'll leave this now touchy subject alone hehe. Carry on gents.

Development was going to take way to long to bring this product to market unfortunately. The Heads and Cam packages have been such a good fit for the car that we decided to continue with that program and took on developing the Force 1 V10 with Fisker.
