    AIr Scoop Measurement Needed

    Hey Guys,

I am making a new belly pan for my Comp Coupe. My old homemade one that came with the car had the opening for but did not have the internal air scoop. I know length and width based upon the old fastener holes that are in the old belly pan, I just don't know how tall the opening is supposed to be. I pulled this pic off of the web to show what I am looking for.

Does anyone have a belly pan off of a car that could measure this for Me?

    Thanks

Hey Steve. If the G4 ACR is the same and you can wait until Sunday I’ll jack my car up and measure for you. Hopefully someone can get this sooner, but if not and mine will work then I’ll get it for you. I think they are the same from memory, but missing the big hole since they stopped the crossing of the exhaust for G4.

    Take care,

Isn't there a flange that hangs down a bit to force air up into the opening? I don't see it in TooBlue's photo and it doesn't look to be in Steve's photo as the pan is flat on the floor and would be propped up some where the opening is.

Here's what I'm referring to with the flange....looks like the design is different with the lack of a second opening under the differential as well.

The hole in the rear, is the rear jacking point.

I think the flap down was added for the G4. My car has it as well.

The big hole behind the scoop under the differential or the small square all the way back?

Oh sorry, I was talking about the square hole all the way back.

I'm 99% sure my Gen IV ACR does not have the opening under the differential.

Gotcha. Mine doesn't have the extra opening either. I've always used the pan rivets (carefully) or "V" points under the sills. Didn't know there was a point through the small hole at the rear.

    Thanks everyone!

Here is what I know about the evolution of the later belly pans (G3-G4-G5).

Early G3: Had the Scoop, The large opening behind the scoop. It was placed there to help with cooling the exhaust crossover. No smaller square hole (diff plug access) and No chassis hole notch.

Later G3: Had the Scoop, The large opening behind the scoop. The smaller square hole (diff plug access) appears. No Notch.

Early G4: Had the Scoop, The large opening goes away, (no crossover pipes). smaller square hole (diff plug access) still there. Notch appears. (From what I was told there was a change in fixturing at the plant. The chassis hole was always there but now they wanted access to it after the belly pan was installed. Thickness of belly pan material decreases to .071.

Late G4: Everything stayed the same except for addition of lip on scoop opening. Not all Late G4's had it from what I have seen.

G5: Same as G4 EXCEPT: Lip on scoop opening gone. (Was catching on things) and lip was moved to the front of the belly pan.

The Comp Coupes used Early G3 street car pans.

Here is a pic of the new belly pan. I made it from mill finish aluminum, but after I finished making it wasn't pretty enough so I polished it. I added The screen in the openings to keep the big chunks out of the chassis.
