Alpine Touch Screen with CarPlay Installed

Hey gents... finally got my new stereo installed and LOVING IT. Posting some install pics. This was as straight forward as they come, but there were a few curve balls! So if you're looking to install a new stereo, this will walk you through it with no issues. ALSO, if you want this same kit for a killer deal my Audio Shop will drop ship it straight to you! So PM me if you're interested, I added pricing at the end of the install. I paid WAY less than retail for the entire kit with DIN and wiring, so if you're interested, let me know, happy to pass along the deal and so is Jag at Audio House in Napa, CA.

So here we go: To remove the dash, remove the allens. There is also a phillips BELOW the center console. The center console simply pulls straight upward to be removed. I started around the shifter because you can get some traction, lift straight up then keep doing this until it's disconnected. Once it's up you can slide a phillips under it and remove the single phillips screw to finish removing the stereo trim bezel and vents. After that's done, it will looks like this:

This is the single phillips. It's hidden. Don't break your dash trim!

Here's the harness and there's a trick here. The harness for the Viper will have wires you don't need and a wild card! Of course, right? On the car side (adapter harness, not harness to stereo) you will not use brown, or ground wires, and you will not use orange illumination wire (the screen doesn't dim). The wild card is the BLUE wire (car harness side) which is for power antenna which is used on cars (like, dare I say, a Corvette!). This wire is actually for your FACTORY AMP SIGNAL, so do NOT discard it. Instead, connect the BLUE/WHITE wire from the stereo harness to it (amp lead). You can cut and discard the blue wire on the stereo harness side. There are a couple other optional wires for back up camera and reverse and such, I'll leave those up to you. If you don't connect your E-Brake wire, you wont be able to access your settings, so that will be important, too!

As far as room and space for tucking and such, this car has tons of it. Probably one of the easiest installs I've done to date, once I had the correct information regarding the factory amp wire. To further clarify, DO NOT order the harness for Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler w/factory amp (seems counter-intuitive, I know) but the standard harness will work just fine and it's $6. Test fit with the screen off. Make sure you mount it FLUSH. Don't recess it or you can't access the top screws to mount the screen. Screen has several adjustments from tilt to height. I adjust mine down two holes and with my short shift my hand slide right under it. The screen can be adjust after install. Here are the pics of test fit, adjustment, and installed. I'll take some better full interior shots tonight and add them. My "installed" pic was before lowering the screen. FYI I have almost my entire vents showing.

Overall... VERY happy with this set up. Screen retails for $599 (or $899 for the more advance one, data logging, etc). Jag @ Audio House is happy to hook you guys up for $575 SHIPPED which includes the nicer DIN with the CD (what're those, right?) slot below, the harness, and unit, and the antenna adapter. Pretty slick deal. Enjoy the pics. See some of you tomorrow at Lagunitas!

Test Fit, no screen. It goes on LAST after trim bezel is back on. But you can set it on and test the stereo for functionality (and I recommend it) before re-installing and buttoning up!

I drilled holes in the lower DIN and ran my stereo and HDMI cords in there. Once the screen is lowered, you can't even see them! Turned out perfectly!

Is the screen covering the gauges and the AC vents?

Do you have any pics of the adapter connected to your plug for the receiver? The wire colors in the viper dont match the harness at all. Thanks in advance.
