    Service Manual CD Copy Help

I purchased the service manual on CD. I used to have it in pdf forum, but my computer crashed.

I open the CD on my computer and it gives me this screen:

    servicemanual.jpg

I then download the SVG Viewer... but as soon as I click the "Enter" button, it just goes to a white screen. What am I doing wrong?

Comes up with this screen on Internet Explorer, and nothing on Google Chrome.

Doesn't work on Google Chrome, requires IE. I have the USB version but the CD is the same. I have the GenV version but I believe this is all the same. Go into file explorer, navigate to the common\html folder on the CD. There's a file there called default.html. Right Click on this file and select Open With Internet Explorer.

In IE, when it opens ,you may get this prompt about allowing ActiveX script controls to run. Select Allow Blocked content. (or change your IE setting to allow ActiveX controls). Then it will run normally. If ActiveX is not enabled the content won't display. This manual was done in an ancient version of FrontPage which requires ActiveX controls hence the IE requirement.

    Thank you.

I did as you said. I didn't get prompted to allow scripts or ActiveX...so I went in to the IE internet options and enabled them... but it's still giving me just the white screen with the two spots that would populate as the index and then the actual page...

    Frustrating.

Cobra, call me now...as, I am about to hit the rack. 317-402-9013

UPDATE...I have rev'd up my OLD computer so we can go step by step live.

For general interest to other folks, the Gen III CD's are different...simple screen shots (actually, page photos of printed service manual) in pdf...read with Adobe after clicking "open files".

The Gen IV and V CD's are more complex as stated.

I don't send or receive "PM's" since I prefer DIRECT communication.

Steve, I am so sorry. I was home with my wife and baby and didn't check to see if I had any replies. I think I have it figured out this morning, if not I will call you today.

Thank you for always being so willing to help.

I had to install Windows Virtual PC/Windows XP Mode in order to get my 2008 CD to work. I'm running windows 7.

Do you have a link? I tried to download it off of Microsoft and it gave me an error.

...and, NO wiring diagrams or pinouts.

UPDATE: the above statement applies only to the Gen V CD 's

I remember seeing the note on the instructions when I bought the 08 manual and being disappointed about this issue in the future. Now that it's here, is there an option out there to get the Gen IV manual in pure PDF form?

One of the PDFs is likely too large for most mail providers (> 25 MB), but I can share them via Drive if others need them. I don't own any Windows machines (all RHEL/CentOS here), so I can't help with the IE steps. I used an ephemeral Window10 VM fwiw (when I initially downloaded them).

    EDIT: I have 04-07
