29K is the highest mileage once I'veseen.. I bought my car with 7200 miles, from Bill P. Don't have records from first owner, but I have all of mine. 14,300 on my car now.

It's the highest mileage one I've heard of as well. In the comments which has blown past the 100 mark several other people chimed in on engine replacement as well. A poll got started etc. on the page.

A lot of gen 5 burn oil. Rings dont seal. Ive changed oil on 6 gen 5 vipers... measured drain on all. 1.5 to 2 plus qts per 1000 each time. Dipsticks are hard to read.

    Be careful.

IDGAF what the dealer tells you. They can not void your warranty for not having oil change service records. SMH

that's a bullshit scam on the records, anybody with a brain can teardown the engine and tell if the oil has been changed regularly PERIOD!

I'm sure FCA will look to void a warranty for any possible reason at this point. Car is finished, zero incentive to show any loyalty to owners of a dead marquee.

I agree, they will also say ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to get out of it. In most cases a simple letter from a lawyer on the owners point can clear up a LOT of things. L0L

I have to pass and maintain an engine failure analysis course through John Deere. It's not that difficult determining failure on an internal combustion engine.

Neither of my Gen 5s burn one drop of oil. After tracking and driving my ACR-E on the One Lap of America (about 3500 miles with track events everyday) when I got home and checked the oil it was still on the full mark. Never had to add oil once during the week. I use Mobil 1 15/50 in the ACR and Mobil 1 0/40 in my GTS.

Mine doesn't burn a drop, either - although I was freaked out at one point when my oil pressure started fluctuating wildly and dropping to zero at times. The dealer said it was just the sensor - as many here suspected.

Zero oil burn here also. Happy to hear they made good on the warranty with a 7 year old vehicle with 29k miles on it. The 43 day wait does seem excessive.

Asking the current owner for proof of maintenance records from previous owners to cover a known problem seems a little ridiculous to me.

Was it a recall car that previously passed and had the 10 year engine warranty? If so, that extended warranty they offered just saved the owner a ton of money, and got a 29,000 mile car a new engine.

The thing is that we do not know what was the cause of this engine failure. Was it "the known problem" whatever that is, or was it something else? The only indication we have is an annotation on the work order (photo was posted on FB) that says the following after mentioning main and rod bearing inspection being performed: "HAS BEEN STARVED FOR OIL AT SOME POINT."

The Mopar recalls site does show R28 as complete for this car, and owner said before taking it in that he confirmed that the car has the 10 year powertrain warranty and said that it passed R28.

at 1500 miles my oil level went from the full line to about 80 to 85% full. i guess that's normal? I also did get a little over 2 teaspoons of crap in my catch can. any of you guys get about that much in the passenger side catch can?

Martin that's my understanding of this situation. I find this reassuring that Dodge made good on the warranty even though it was in the dealer hands for some 45. days.

Well, my car was in the dealer's hands for about that long because a bolt for the battery and a window regulator were backordered and unavailable To get a whole new engine in that amount of time is somewhat of a miracle. They must have more engines in stock than other parts that would seemingly be interchangeable with other cars.

A lot. Not all gen 5's burn oil. Measure the drain if you haven't already. Dont just go by dipstick readings. Mine was 3 qaurts low when it popped in 2015 and read "max" on dipstick.

No offense meant here but I assume that you are checking it within 2-5 minutes of shutting engine down. If you wait longer additional oil drains to pan making the reading appear higher than it actually is.

Yeah...There are so many theories on what is correct. In the sticky area of this forum directions were to let the car sit overnight and you get 1 clean pull (not what manual says).

I gave up on trusting the stick. I change my oil every 1000 miles.

Todd at AC performance gave me a trick to try to seal the rings. Trying this summer and will report on forum if it works.

I've had two Gen V's one was a brand new 14 I owned up to 25k and my current 13. with currently 16k on it Only time any oil was burnt was on the track but it was maybe a half quart if that.

IHOP - Running 0w-40? What kind of milage between oil change intervals?

I believe in my owners manual it indicates 5min from shutdown before you check oil reading.
