    My 99 Camaro SS

Here is my 99 Camaro SS.

Gen IV aluminum 5.3 sleeved and stroked to 440ci. Callie's forged bottom end with Wiseco pistons, AFR 265 LS7 heads worked over by Tony Mamo, healthy 247 cam, LS7 Atomic intake worked over by Tony, 11.9:1 compression and of course full exhaust.

Transmission is a T56 Magnum with a Monster clutch. Stock 1st through 4th gear ratios with 5th and 6th being shorter so no more .50 OD 6th. MGW shifter. Rear is a Dana S60 with 3.73 gears. Might back it down to 3.55 but it's a minimal change, wish they made a 3.23/3.31/3.42 setup but I think those are custom. Aluminum 1k HP limit drive shaft.

Suspension is comprised of lowering springs, adjustable yellow Koni shocks, heavy duty sways, adjustable LCA's, adjustable panhard bar and subframe connectors. I have a strut tower brace as well but the dang intake is so tall I would have to cut and box it to get it to fit, which I might do. And yes, still rocking the stock SLP chrome 5 spokes with a square 275 setup with Nitto NT01's.

If I ever do a track day I will probably take this instead of the Viper because it's about half the cost to replace. She has a few small scratches, dings, and one dent. The interior is great other than a small rip on the driver bolster and the prior owner used a cleaner that left little discoloration dots on the sets. Why? Who the heck knows.

Anyway, here she is. She's a rocket.

My brother had a Z28 in that body style... I was surprised how fast it was. I bet yours is fun to drive and it's great that it basically looks stock going down the road. Every once in a while I think about getting a Camaro. Nice car!!

There are days when I really miss the sound of my '02:

I had built it with a future engine build in mind, but ended up buying my Viper instead. It was my first car, and as such a daily driver for 5 years until I bought a beater truck to daily instead. It went through one Ohio winter, and that was about enough for me.

Thanks, man! It's a fun car and a totally different driving experience. If I only had some Super Trooper sunglasses and a mullet wig. lol

That is the idea, to look totally stock but be far from it. Haha. Even all the suspension components I swapped are black instead of red. I hate that red crap.

Steve's old car looks beautiful. Very sweet looking car.

How does it pull compared to the Viper? 440 LS has to be pretty strong.

I would say it's close but the Viper is smoother which may make it feel slower than it truly is. The Viper is brutal in acceleration but the Camaro feels violent. My bet would be on the SS as it probably has a 80-100 HP advantage. Weight is about the same but the SS has a HP advantage. This combo has made anywhere from 610-640 rwhp in some C6's.

Very nice, awesome car! I had a 97 Firebird Formula, should have waited one more year and gotten the 98 with the LS. I was young and stupid!

Thanks, man. The LT1 was a better sounding engine, no question there.

Been able to get the SS out and stretch it's legs a fair bit. This thing is a missile.

It also handles quite well, stays flat, responsive and those NT01's stick great but man they are kind of noisy.
