Any cheap Gen 5 out there for sale

I just keep running into low mileage queens for big bucks. Looking for an early Gen 5, priced right, must have 6 vent hood.
Nothing really on Autotrader, Cars.com etc, anywhere else I should be looking?

It’s crazy how quickly the market has swung on these cars. When I was shopping two years ago I had a nice 14 SRT with 13k miles offered to me at 70k.

The one Ronin47 posted is local to me. I'd be happy to check it out, if interested. Although, I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about that dealership.

If that's Palmer they are terrible. And their sales guy is a liar and a thief. There is a thread right now on FB about them and him. Buyer beware.

This one is a good deal, but just too nice- https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ngId=573664760
Would rather it have 30k miles and be $80K

Maybe turbo's for road racing. Was planning on doing it to my 9 liter car, but that car runs so well, probably best to leave it and have two track cars. Still debating. Will have to sell some cars, no more taking money out of the family cookie jar for racing lol

Let me know if you have some interest in selling the Gen II GTS.

Didnt the SRT folks explain the two vent hood is jsut as functional areo wise as the three vent hood and it was mostly an aesthetic difference (flowed every so slightly more)? The GTS-R's had two vent also iirc. Wish I could find a no stories gen V for 80s also.. dont know they exist anymore. Not so concerned about milage as these things seems pretty bullet proof.

Not sure about the aero, but the 6 vent hood car will always be "faster" as it lets more heat out. I bet the difference is massive on track. The SRT engineer's even recommend taking out the mesh while on track in the ACR. Look at any race car, they all have massive hood venting.

    .
That reminds me, on a turbo car I'd like to add one vent on each side, or maybe even two vents on each side. Towards the top of the hood it gets flatter, not so concave so would make it easier. Check out the pic-

I'm not sure holes in the flat portion of the hood will help much. They need the raised "lip" in front of them like the other vents to create a low pressure area to help pull air out. One thing that would help would be to build duct work to take the air coming through the radiator fans and divert it around the bottom of the air intake box and out the hood vent holes.

    Viper Cooling Duct_LI.jpg

Here is a rough sketch of what I am doing to the hood and ducts on my Corvette track car.

    Hood 2.jpg

The duct takes air from behind the radiator and routes it up and out the hood - helps cooling and provides an aero benefit by decreasing under-hood pressure and pushing air up and around the windshield. Another thing that might help would be to get more air to flow around the motor and out the side vents, but there is a lot of junk in the way.

    Viper Dry Sump Install_LI.jpg

If this is a race car, you might consider moving the passenger side footwell back and use that space for the dry sump tank - better CG and removes some clutter in that area. Here is the way I did it on my track car.

    Dry Sump Tank Install.jpg

Moving things like the water tank and the fuse box to clear a path for air to exit the side vents might help.

Considering the cost of what you're going to build, using a GTS hood that you modify by opening up the existing shape with no grid work in the way will probably be the least expensive mod you do on the car and will flow more air than the six vent hood.

As stated above, you just need to put a small Gurney flap spoiler on the front leading edge of each opening and you'll be exhausting a huge amount of air. Since this sounds like a major track car, I don't think you'll mind permanently modifying the GTS hood.
