    Need advice on lowering RT

Havent been around the forums in a long time. Picked up a GENII RT/10 and looking for advice on best route to lower it. Lowering springs? Coilovers? Which brands on either setup? Looking to do 1-2 inches at most for now. Went with coilovers in last GENIII but, I know a lot of you in the past were running springs on the GENII's. Pics would be super helpful as well.

BCs are pretty popular these days. About $1300 for a set of 4. Fully adjustable.

BC's are the way to go if money is no object and will set you about about $1,300 They will lower about 1" out of the box but are adjustable if you prefer to go lower.

Otherwise, like Chip mentioned, Eibachs / caps for <$500.

I've tried both. BC's ride the best. The Eibach's alone (no caps) were a little bouncy, but tolerable.

I also did caps alone and they were great, but only lower a little better than a 1/2" or so.

The Eibach's I took off my 96 GTS were about 2 inch drop. I went with stock springs and IPSCO lowering caps to have a 1 inch drop.

Thanks, fellas. I might actually try the Eibachs/caps for now and see how that looks. If I need it lowered more, I'll grab the BC's. Anyone happen to have a pic of a GENII with the Eibachs and caps?

You have some pictures of the car with just the IPSCO caps and otherwise stock suspension?

I would never use BC Coilovers and money is no object in the same sentence. Penskes are a money is no object product. BCs are barely above Pep Boys albeit they fit that entry level coilover niche.

I’ve considered the BCs as well, but what spring rates are good for street driving? Not a track car.

...too low, rubbed inner fender well too often. With 18's it didn't rub that much.

Key item noted in all these responses to the threads is too low and they eat the inner fender wheel wells. That is your big " ouch " as you could be spending around $900 a pop if you eat one alive , so don't go too low.

I wont. Im actually not going to lower it just yet because Im looking for the right wheel setup to run in order for me to lower it the way I want. Currently on a set of SRT 10-Spokes and meaty tires. With the Eibachs and caps it would definitely rub. Thanks for the info though, Bill.

Has anybody got a picture of the spring caps you used to lower the car.

I used these spring caps on my oem koni's and my car now sits just 3" off the ground!

I did find the rebound on the shocks were not all set the same so I set the rear to 3/4 stiff.

Here's a picture of the original spring caps

The only other thing is I am running 18" wheels with Toyo R888's 295x30x18 front and 335x30x18 rear.

I would not want the car any lower, its a nightmare over speed ramps with some roads No Go Zones!
