    Gen 5 diff

Does anyone have a good diff for sale? Prefer with the stubs and axles. Wanting to get solid mounts made for it and can't have my car down for that long. Plus a spare is a good idea lol.
    Thanks!

ah, dang. Are these scarce now, too? They aren't available from dealers? That's not good since these things fail pretty regular, at least in my experience.

I haven't heard of any failing have you? On mine the half shaft popped out on track, this has happened to Calvo too. Solid mounts solve the problem.

I believe they are getting harder to source, at least new. Mine ACR was down for 5 weeks earlier this year after being approved for a warranty replacement. They told me there were only a half dozen in the country at the time.

mine failed twice, rebuilt once because parts were scarce, replaced the second time. I think both times were maybe my fault, but warrantied anyway. Now I'm fine buying my own, but they need to be available at least. I guess the internals may be found and rebuilt at minimum.

This seemed to be available for in store pickup? I didn't call them to verify though.

McKinney is only a stone's throw away from me. They seem to only want $40 to ship to AZ though.

Factory difs gets scarce you can always go quick change. Much more durable then factory dif, alot more gearing options , torque bias choices, quick change ability, and cost is not to bad. They do require some basic fabrication for install and slightly heavier then factory dif.

Cable, you might want to check with RTS (the guys that built your sequential). They have already adapted a Winters quick change to a C6 Corvette with the rear mounted transmission. https://www.facebook.com/10228674945...2268174891045/

It would probably be easier for them to machine the mounts to put the Winters in a Viper - they have a guy who loves doing that CNC stuff.

Always take the trade endurance for a little weight. Learn from Alpha, Spice, Mercedes, Peugeot and Porsche bad engineering decisions in the past .. You cant win if you dont finish

Right, but Cable is a lightweight freak haha

He only has to run 3 laps at a time.

It's a Dana 44 right? But I guess specific to each different application. My first one got "clunky" and whiney at high speed, was replaced under warranty about 5 years ago. This one has been fine.

Good to hear there might be some options if/when this diff dies.

Good eye. Looks like a Gen 3/4.

It could very well be a genuine Gen 5 differential.

    1. It has the correct stubs
    2. There have been reports of 2013 and 2014 cars with the "Fangs" differential covers: https://driveviper.com/forums/thread...l=1#post145029

The only substantial difference would be the it would have 3.55s (Gen 5) instead of the 3.07s (Gen 4), which would be easy enough to check. Otherwise, everything else (minus the stubs) would be the same as what came in the Gen 4s. It could not be a Gen 3 unit because the stubs would not work with the Gen 3 Hydra Lok differential.
