    Cell phone holder

Does anyone have a useful one? I've gone through several and:
    • either they attach into the cup holder and soon shake loose
    • attach via suction to the dash which leaves a "suction impression" for months after removed
    • restrict access to the shifter, ebrake and dash controls
    • restrict forward vision

My wife is getting cranky after holding it up on long drives.

If needed, I use a suction to the windshield; typically as close to or behind the rear view mirror. I've only used it once in the Viper, but it worked fine and wasn't too obstructive to the view.

    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N9PPOAY/

I used that mount plus a phone vise that I had lying around. I've used that suction mount in my racecar GTI and never had an issue with it on track.

Alternatively, get me some accurate dimensions on your cup holder and phone, and I can 3D Print you something.

I can't offer any advice on cell phone holders/mounts, but you might get better responses if you tell us how you are using your phone.

    Navigation?

Basically, where does the phone need to be mounted to be of use to you?

I'm also not a big fan of restricting my forward vision, which is why I no longer run my radar detector under my rear view mirror. I can't imagine how much room a modern cell phone would take up when considering the view out of the windshield is already pretty limited.

My solution for getting navigation in my car was to install a double DIN head unit with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay functionality, but that's substantially more involved than slapping on a simple cell phone mount. Still though, it is definitely one of the favorite things I've done to this car. My cell phone goes in the glove box, and doesn't come back out until I'm done driving. The head unit in the dash handles phone calls, navigation, and my entire music library all without limiting my access to the A/C vents or controls, or being in the way of the shifter. You do have to take your eyes off the road, though, when navigating an unfamiliar area.

DUDE! I did not even think to look at ProClip there being so few Vipers around. I have ProClip units in 3 of my other cars and love them. They are "expensive," over-built, and over-engineered, just the way I like it. Buying one right now for the Viper. https://www.proclipusa.com/product/855546-angled-mount

Thanks for all the responses! But WHAT A FIND WITH THE PROCLIP! too bad it's backordered but that looks sharp and actually fits without hindering any aspect of driving! Too bad it's expensive since I've got no budget left for that amazon woman.

    Major thanks everyone! Ordering now.

Yeah, hence the "first come, first served." Some of your VOA brethren beat you to the punch.

I will post up here when I get mine installed next week and report back if I think it is worth the wait.

Got my ProClip base and mount installed like described in the video. Solid as a rock. Does not block the view out the front windshield, which I would think would be of the utmost importance to most of us. I wish it tilted a little bit further down, but it will work out just fine. 1 foot USB cord plugged into a cig lighter charger.

That reminds me of a generation gap moment from the Viper Days Reunion. My best friend passed away suddenly several years ago. I invited his 17 year old son to hang with me for the weekend. He's getting ready to apply to several schools for a Mech Eng. degree. He was checking out my Gen 2 and asked how the cigarette lighter works. () I said push the button down firmly until it seats, then just watch. It popped and I told him to remove it and hold it near enough to his face to feel the heat. I also warned him not to put his thumb on the orange part! I learned that hard lesson at about 4 in the back of my grandma's Caddy.

    Kids these days....

I am pretty sure all of us old dumbasses got "the brand" at one time or another. Was not near as bad as that first "Viper brand" on the calf however.
