Thx. Probably won’t change the alignment on my car at this time. I have put some time in on a simulator and watched videos. If anybody with alot of Daytona knowledge has some nugget, I would be more than welcome learning from them. PM me.

    Cable,

I've never seen a Ligier JS P320 run in person, but holy shit it's fast. A 1:47.8 is moving.

    EDIT: 1:46.152....

The second fastest car so far is a Cadillac DPi. Never even heard of that.

For those who have been to Nationals before, are there always this many prototypes in STU/TTU?

Yeah. That's why I did nationals at COTA a few years ago in my stock ACR in TT1. Came in 2nd to a Cup Car sigh. What's funny is the prototypes that year ended up not being fast and the Ginetta broke. So a Vette won TTU with a 2.17. If I would have brought my fast car I would have ended up winning. It's luck of the draw. From now on I'll always just bring the fastest car and hope for the best. Classing at nationals is extremely stressful. One guy died while on the dyno when I went, heart attack, no shit. When I got there my car dyno'd 50hp higher than it ever had before (almost 600whp lol), so had to put on heavier wheels, take off underdrive pulley. Every time I made a change I had to go find the head of TT and get approved, took the whole day. I still didn't make TT1 and finally had to go buy Hoosiers and not use the Michelins slicks I brought. So had to use one set all weekend. At these type of events, the driving is the easy part of winning. LOL

New tires went on for qualifying lol. 1.45.4 for the Ligier and 1.45.7 for the Caddy. Faessler 1.53, he must be having issues, he should get closer to the prototypes....

    Stupid fast haha

I talked to a buddy down there and he was saying that Goldburg was telling people he was shooting for 44.1-44.2.

That really surprised me seeing him that far back too. I think you are right, either a problem or intentionally working on something. I saw a video of him testing @ Daytona in the winter and he was hitting 191/192 before turn 1, I thought it was around 1:50ish.

Tomorrow morning we are gonna see some crazy times I think. At the 24 hour this year the fastest of the LMP3s went 1:43, we may see these guys get that low.

Weekend ended up about how I expected. Goldburg is a machine. His Ligier was killing the DPi in the infield, and then would get trounced coming off the oval onto the front straight, but was able to make up ground when they caught lap traffic and hold off for the win.

Incredible driving for a lot of guys.

I would venture to bet there were some SM guys that were better drivers than the faster classes, but it's hard to say how that would translate to faster cars.

I'm hoping to compete at Nationals next year, dependent on where they head!

What's funny is Faessler did win TTU. Not one of those proto's that registered in TTU ran... So a doorslammer won unlimited, that's awesome.

No, there was a Wolf Mistral, Saker GT. Not sure how fast the Saker is, but those Wolf's are fast AF.
    Faessler was hitting 192mph there!

I stumbled across the full championship race for SM from inside the car that finished 3rd. The driver has typed in commentary. I never realized spec Miata had so much strategy. They have hand gestures to draft, pass and back off. At the end you get to see the moment he realized he was getting ready to go from 1st to 3rd right before finish line.
