Crazy idea Trade ACR for GenIV vert

Hi all, just had this crazy, or not, idea to trade my 2008 ACR for a Gen IV convertible plus cash. I love my ACR, the look/sound/feel/rawness etc, but I do miss the open cockpit/wind in the hair/bla bla bla etc. I never bought the ACR to track and never did, used it as just a cruiser, 99% stock and 17k, and if I end up keeping it forever, that will be just fine.....I look at it as a win/win either way....thoughts? Maybe I'm just having one of those moments, lol...

Makes total sense to me to have that kind of vehicle in roadster/spyder form. You basically double the enjoyment and feel the car even more. I never had a bike and never will, so that is the closest thing to a motorcycle I'll ever have.

Also, for that reason I will never buy a Gen 5.

...also, nothing stops you to take a convertible gen3 or 4 and get it modified the way you want. My roadster gen3 is so heavily modified to my tasting now that I probably wouldnt have fun in a gen4 ACR.

Not sure how much you'd get for your car these days but probably enough to buy a gen 3 + lots of modifications + cash left

I Ride Motorcycles , and prefer the Open Top for back road fun.
    I find it more visceral……
Funny I know 2 owners who sold their Gen 5’s for Convertibles.
It comes down to your preference …..

Last time I checked (Canada) two gen4 ACR were for sale at roughly 75k USD and gen3's were available for 40-45k while gen4 vert where next to impossible to find here

I traded my GEN II ACR for a GEN IV vert and have never looked back. I had the convertible top down before the car was even off the transport vehicle. Lol Someone in my club just sold their LE GEN V for a GEN IV vert. Same reason as I did…the ability to put the top down.
'01 Sapphire RT/10. '08 Snakeskin Green Vert. "H" spokes, Grey/Black interior, Graphite bezels, NAV, Full Belanger exhaust w/ Hi-Flows, ARROW PCM and Quaife rear end with 3.55's. http://www.westernreservevipers.com

Surprisingly, the Viper world is the only one I know of (besides Boxster/Cayman, that was later ''fixed'' with 718 era) that convertible's value is LESS than hardtop

If you don't track the car, or don't absolutely want the gen 5, I see not point not having a convertible. Even on chassis stiffness point of view, I think they are virtually the same.

An ACR is just that much more unique and if you sell it, you will regret that later on. ACR’s will be harder and harder to find down the road. Verts are plentiful. Sure there are less gen 4’s but consider all that were made 03-10.

If you want a Vert to get it out of your system, add it to what you have. Give it a year with both and then sell the one you don’t want to keep.

All but 1 of my previous Vipers had been coupes. When I started seriously looking for another one, I decided I wanted a Gen 4 ACR. I looked for months and couldn't find the "right" one. Then the boom in prices hit and I knew I was screwed. I pivoted and decided to look for a Gen 4 convertible. I found a one owner, white/red stripes, red interior, 09 convertible with 1600 miles. The 85 year old owner traded it in on a new Hellcat. I don't think the dealer knew what they had and I jumped on it. A few months later, I can tell you I have really enjoyed this drop top Viper. I don't know that I would personally trade an ACR for a convertible plus "a lotta cash" but if you do decide to go that route I don't think you would be disappointed. Best of luck to you.

yup prices are crazy right now even in Canada, there is basically no 03-06 convertible below 50k and low-milleage ones are 55-60k+ (USD$)

last year I couldve bought locally 2 or 3 for less than 35k USD

You want wind in your hair plus still have side by side seating? Keep the coupe and buy a Polaris Slingshot. That’s what I did.
They’re coming to get you Barbara.

Had this debate before, and the ones we came up with (apart from Vipers) were Gullwing Mercedes and 67-73 Mustang fastbacks. I'm sure there are others but not many.

Get used to it. People are finally understanding what these cars are all about and they are just going to go up from here on forward. Anything less expensive is most likely crap with stories

ive never driven in an ACR or even a coupe but i can say with all honesty my gen 3 vert is the most thrilling driving experience ive ever had

Ive owned a few vettes , my current one is a modified C6 grand sport making more power then the viper, but for some reason it just sits collecting dust now

If your financially capable i would also recommend buying both and seeing which one u like, or at least taking a vert on a nice long cruise to see if u fall in love with it before u pull the trigger

as gas prices increase the demand will drop off , its a sellers market right now but wont be forever

We are under attack by governments worldwide, and removal of gasoline cars is high on their list.......

Sounds like the OP needs the very rare Gen 4 ACR Vert made for Woodhouse. Rare bird indeed and probably go for ACR-E money now.
