    Prefix heads cam installer

Is there any company that’s close to Kansas City, MO who installs this package?
I’ve only seen the drive to be over 11 hours away from me.

I have, they would have to ship the motor to Prefix, install head/cam, and ship the motor back and reinstall.
They’re getting a price but I have feeling it’s going to be pricey doing it this way.

There is actually a standard shipping box/skid that Prefix uses. The entire engine is enclosed. The engine is pulled with a Viper-only engine sling and dropped into the box. It is a clean in/out.

The engine will have to come out to get the cam in anyways. Shipping might run $6-800. I would either have Woodhouse pull it and ship it, or ship the whole car to Prefix and back for a total of $2,000 or so.

i would ship the whole car to prefix, both Woodhouse and Prefix both have great reputations but shipping the car to Prefix makes more sense just in case something happened to go wrong, there's only one party involved to take responsibility.

Not sure where you read $14k... I've checked into it before, with three different shops, and it's always been $20-26k.

I would suggest getting updated quotes.

VE does the heads/cam package for like $19k on a bone stock car. Keyword there is package. That price includes longtube headers and all the other random stuff you need like heat wrap. Add tax on top of that and 22k isn't far off.

I would recommend getting a quote from them in that case. It should be more along the lines of what you are expecting. I believe VE will not be shipping your engine to Prefix unless it needs repair or a 9L conversion.

This for sure... I've worked with Scot with my Vipers a few times and he's been great. Ship it to them and know it comes back in exemplary fashion.. like if the factory did it themselves. Its worth the shipping and wait for no headaches.

the 9Lx is not a bad option either!
