Engine height would be an issue, and likely, width as well with the big hemi-heads. And the hellcat engine? Park a Viper next to a Challenger or GT500 and picture what the Viper would look like with a front clip that tall. Author states: “I’m not an engineer…” No kidding.

Any fitment or engineering issues aside, it is hard to argue with the logic from an affordability/sales perspective.
It is interesting to contemplate the viability, desirability, affordability, etc.
It's a double-edged sword, so to speak. The Viper is the least practical of all of the performance cars, but that is also part of its allure. Who knows!?!?!![]()

That would most likely require a new Frame for fitment and a recertification , it's a very Big if in todays market and mandate for EV'S .
Surprised they didn’t talk about FirePower ……….

I personally like the idea of knowing what engine is under the hood of a car. MMMMM is it a V8, or a V10? When MOST car people see our Vipers, they know they are V10's.

Why would a hellcat engine be needed to make the Gen V. C7Z competitor? Hahah

If it doesn't have a V10 then don't bother. If they want to do a new sports car with a hybrid V8 or go full EV then have at it, as long as it's named something besides Viper.

Vipers have V10s. Anything other than that, is silly.

If it doesn't have a V10 then it's not a viper. Didn't they at one time have a prototype car with a v8 called firepower or something?
Make your own luck
If they wanted to so badly stuff a V8 into the Viper, then why not just chop off two of the V10's cylinders and go that route? It would actually fit unlike the massive boat anchor Hellcat engine. That's what Chevy has done with the 4.3L V6. It's a 350 with 2 cylinders missing. Same bore, same stroke, same design.
Heritage seems to matter less and less these days. The "new" Charger by any other name would have been a cool car. But 4-doors and Charger didn't go together until Dodge wanted to sell cars. How about the Dart? Laughable. Do you really think they're not above using the Viper name on the next hot thing just to try and draw attention. I really hope they keep it sacred, but who knows. I'm originally a Mustang guy and am still having a hard time swallowing the Mach-E....
