18 Speaker Stereo: A MUST HAVE!!

I could rave about the 100's of things I love about my 2013 Viper, but I still can't get over how good the factory 18 speaker stereo is, especially when connected to your ipod/iphone. SRT and Harmon Kardon really knocked it out of the park with the stereo. The clarity and bass is something you would NEVER expect from a Viper, to the point that even other Viper owners will ask if I have an aftermarket setup. If you are a dealer, you should make sure you check mark that option when ordering inventory units, and if you are in the market for a Gen V, you should make sure you buy one with it, or do the Mopar upgrade yourself.

YES! Nothing like some Hair Metal @ Vol setting 22 to get the adrenaline pumping

I am glad they did not go with the Alpine junk that's in the ram Lineup. My work truck has more clarity and bass than that line of crap.

Yes, it's d@mn good. In fact, I gave someone a ride in mine who happened to be an audiophile. He couldn't believe how good it sounded for a factory setup. He was blown away by the bass and clarity of the system. Kickstart My Heart.....rock on!!!

So people with TA's can buy this P/N to add the speakers we are missing from the factory?

Jason, you are getting softer with age. I was hoping to see your track result type posts, like you had with the Gen 4.

Ya it's crazy, that stereo system got me more excited than the car itself sometimes... I have a B&W $7k system at home and I swear the 18 speaker unit in my '13 sounded better then that. I now have a '14 T/A and there is a fairly big difference in the 12 speaker system, especially the bass. I have been meaning to do the upgrade, thanks for reminding me

With my TA2.0 inbound, how different is the 12-speaker system in that to the 18 in the GTS? Is it hard to upgrade? Is the posted kit all that is needed?

Those of you with the 12 speakers, there is already a thread about the upgrade and install. http://driveviper.com/forums/threads...alled-on-my-TA

I thought someone who installed this already in their 12 speaker car found the following:

    - that they already had the center speaker, so no need for it in the kit.
    - that the door speakers when installed work immediately.
    - that the new sub behind the seat didn't work right away. Maybe that's why the directions mention something needing updated in the programming?

Can anyone confirm these that's done the install?

Haha, I gotta have a track open to go Tony. Dallas Raceway in Crandall (the place I ran 10's in my 08, and where we had DvH in 2010) has since shut down which is very disappointing, and Ennis's track prep is a joke on their test n' tune nights. RPR is supposedly where it's at, but I'm not sure I can make a Quick 30 event yet.

I think I remember watching the vid on youtube of your gen IV going 10s back in the day. Did you sell it for your new one?

Unfortunately not, it was totaled out (although someone repaired it and tried to pass it off as a clean title car). I got my Gallardo a month later, but decided to sell it when they revealed the Gen V. I'm glad it went the way it did, otherwise I would still be in my Gen IV and be missing out on how awesome the Gen V is!

    speaker upgrade

does the 18 spkr really make that much different ? on my '14 TA… i usually have the vol level at max , 38….and i find it adequate but not enough bass… good thing is, even at 38, it's not clipping… if the 18 spkr kit doesn't come with additional amps, i assume, how does it really give you ' more' sound ?
i 'm thinking of keeping the head unit but adding a few JL audio amps and getting some real speakers…. 2 way separates and enclosed subs…. use need one good 10"…it will blow all the factory 'subs' put together….

The difference is noticeable. I had a TA and GTS with 18 speakers in the garage. I sat in them back to back playing the same tune and there was much more bass in the 18 speaker setup....as well as clarity.

Yes, it's "That" much of a difference. It's worth every penny (and I'm a cheap bastard - just ask my gf...)!

I have changed the stereo system in the last 5 cars/trucks I have had. The 18spkr system is the first one that I'm going to leave alone. If you are thinking of adding aftermarket equipment, please do yourself a favor and find someone with the 18spkr package and listen first. More than likely you will just do the mopar upgrade to your current system.

I like the quality of the sound, its great. It is not loud enough though, some of my custom stereos may not sound quite as clear but they are far louder.

I can cruise on the highway with the windows down, and the volume is at 17-19. I rarely listen to my radio over 25. Lots of bass, can't hear the exhaust. This is through my phone, I know radio/XM satellite has less quality. I hope you can find someone with the 18 speaker to see for yourself.

I made the thread because I don't think enough people know just how awesome it is.
