Ultimately – he’s complaining about bad design and some law of nature. However, if iForged knows this is an issue with this style of wheel (and it appears to be rather common knowledge!) and there’s a post production fix (didn’t someone say you add some $35 part?) then I am not so sure I don’t disagree with the title.
If this condition was caused by damage or abuse- then I would 100% side with iForged – but this appears to be a bad design (or at least incomplete design testing) It doesn’t sound like this whole “look” has been around for that long – would be interesting to know – so how many can really be out there?
I just think that if someone contacts them regarding a known design issue that impacts safety – and a fix is available reasonably – a company has an ethical responsibility to make it right. I look at design issues differently than normal bitching….
It’s also possible I am a complete weirdo.

OK, so there’s obviously a weirdo alternative opinion. Actually, it appears completely reasonable, so for the time being, I’ll do nothing (which, frankly, I am SO much better at that anyone else in here). Do we have a “swallowing a chill pill” smiley?

Looks like the OP truly feels that the product is “unsafe.” Hence his thread title. The only reason he claims he’s getting bad customer service is because iForged isn’t giving him the fix for the issue for free. I wouldn’t say his thread title is threatening so much as it’s misleading. Judging by what Nine Ball is saying this isn’t exclusive to iForgerd products. Delicate balance here between what the OP feels is fact/truth and what a wheel vendor (Nine Ball) is explaining happens on all types of wheels this gentleman has.
I suppose we could let this go a few different ways. Change the thread title as it does seem to be a bit misleading. I’m in customer service and clearly he’s upset because he can’t get the “fix” from iForged for free so he’s decided to take to the internet and libel them. Or when iForged comes on board as a vendor they can defend themselves and make him look a little bit silly since theres already reasonable explanation in thread about whats going on with his car. I’d maybe try to plead with him one more time before we go ahead and change the thread title.

Doing a bit of research this is a know issue in the community (cars forums in general) going as far back as eight years.

I can do that. 🙂 I’ll BCC you.

and then see my PM to the author and his response below:
Re: iForged unsafe product and bad customer service!
by CityHi 1994viper,
Jut wanted to contact you privately to make sure you’re “OK” with your thread. Regardless of the posting, we don’t want you to be uncomfortable. As I mentioned in your thread, I ONLY have a slight issue with the title as I think it is arguably unfair to iForged. If you agree, I can change it (or you can if you prefer) to something a bit less threatening.
If you disagree, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’m just trying to keep things on an even playing field for everyone.
Thanks,
City
________________Thank you for contacting me. I truly feel that my title isn’t threatening. I believe that they did produce a dangerous product (I notified iForged of such, the did not deny it. The actual quotation on their site reads: “dreaded wheel vibyration problem”. Its alarming and frightful vibration which is in turn dangerous. They refused to provide the fix hence bed customer service. I think im fine with my title. Thank you
Mark
________________I was hoping to elicit SOME compromise to edit the rather harsh and potentially damaging thread title; only the thread title. Obviously, the author does not agree. The balance of the thread is VERY interesting and should no doubt remain. It would appear that the problem is not necessarily singular to iForged (who, by the way, is going to be a site sponsor which complicates the issue) but to all manufacturers of this type of dished wheel.
I still have some serious concerns about the thread title which I would prefer to be changed to something less definitive (“Dangers of dished wheels” or even “Problems in the rain with iForged dished wheels”. The previous examples are far more accurate with regard to the discussion that follows. Yet, I am still hesitant to moderate if at all possible.
What do you all think? Am I over the top here?
