Yes, I notched the plastic cover and cut a slot in the console base. I think there were two screws that went up from the bottom receiver into the decorative top part. For added strength I epoxied the lower receiver to the inside of the console base. As you can see from video, very strong and that was done 3 years ago. That was the easy part. The cup holder itself is designed to face to other way, which won’t work with the park brake. I turned it 180 degrees, but then the angle of the base that the cup sits on is wrong – it tilts precariously. I built the base up with epoxy to change the angle (not hard at all) and painted it. Never had a drink fall out. Has a spring loaded finger to keep pressure on cup, and it can take some big a$$ cups!

That was an ebay special. Think i got it for $325 about 2 years ago. Seen them as low as $250 since then. Fuel door is the OEM one that comes with the coupes, seems they get all the good stuff – except for a fixed roof!

I found it easier to train my girlfriend that she isn’t allowed drinks in the Viper. No custom fabbing needed.
Good job making it fit though, ACTech

Unfortunately, once you marry them, they train you.

First mod I did to my Viper, shows you who is in charge. This holder is the nicest one I could find, it’s removable, very well built (heavy, 3 years and two cross country trips) and dirt cheap on ebay (search BMW removable cup holder). Includes socket meant to retrofit a BMW. Some modification to console was required and the holder was turned 180 Degrees. Does not interfere with anything, lots of leg clearance and silver top kinda matches shift trim ring. From this, to a GTS-R bumper mod- it’s a logical progression in my mind. 🙂
