I shelled out a few bucks and got myself a used DRB-III scan tool that works with pre-1996 Vipers that have the OBD-I diagnostics port. This tool was in regular use by Viper Techs in every Dodge dealership in the 1990’s, but is tough to find now. The DRB-III can diagnose lots of electrical/emission/motor problems that cannot be isolated using the basic “key on-key-off” x 3 error-code-reading method covered in the service manual.
If any Mid-South members with Gen 1 cars find themselves in need of this tool, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
