yea they sell em’ as a complete but other car brands have the hub and sealed bearing that are sold separately, bearing is pressed in and retained by snap rings … I don’t see what the big deal is especially on a non abs hub,,, I know that it’s faster for a shop tech to replace the unit whole but I grew up actually fixing things not just opening a box and replacing the whole thing…. I am wondering if someone else might have tried… had a bearing part number???????

A post from 2010 on another site says:
I had my machine shop press the old assy apart to see what kind of bearings they were using.Come to find out it is special made for dodge by timken.I tried to purchase the bearings but motion industries could not buy them either.
I only remember people discussing replacing the whole assembly. The discussions seemed mainly about whether to buy the Dodge part that comes with the spindle and nut already correctly assembled, or an aftermarket part where you have to reuse the OE spindle and nut. If you reuse the spindle and nut, you have to be very careful to not ruin the threads on the spindle since the nut is peened onto it to keep it from loosening.

Before I need one I was wondering if anyone has replaced the bearing only in their hubs vs. buying a hub assembly? It just seems that if they can press one in that it can be pressed out and replaced? …..with Chrysler ones fairly expensive and aftermarket ones pretty much crap unless you go with the scf ones also expensive it was something I was wondering about. Would be nice to get a US made bearing and replace it only,,,, anyone done this or have info bout this? thanks in advance….
