For the those that follow the forums, behind the scenes with some people is the potential for a class action lawsuit against FCA on the blown motor situation. This is now being done offline as far as I know on a FB page. At a event over the weekend, I was approached by a Viper owner asking if the VOA is suing FCA on this matter. I was actually shocked to hear that. I was not aware of this and my explanation was these were folks on the forum and this is NOT a VOA matter. I would, as officers be aware of the situation and state what the facts are so our name does not get involved.

I’ve gotten a lot of pm’s on this. The VOA isn’t involved in anything, however we did try to help the 2 people with blown engines get some attention. Also tried to get mopar to act, they thought that they could do it, but the cars were flagged and they couldn’t. That’s the extent of what we can do, we tried leveraging our relationships, but we’re certainly not part of leading/participating in any lawsuit with fca. I’ll say that I don’t disagree with these guys completely. Specific to the motors with controllers – Dodge would have covered these in the past. And with motors blowing, that tested clean, does pose a problem for them and a class action lawsuit indeed isn’t out of the question for specifically this type of grievance. We’ll see where it goes.

With said, as Bruce stated, let’s sure people know the distinction on the VOA’s position. I wasn’t happy with the VCA posting on their website that the “VOA is wining and threatening a lawsuit”. Of course again hoping to mislead FCA and others, but we know the Dodge guys well enough and they’re aware of our role, but members sometimes won’t.

Frankly the only ones not agreeing with the victims are the folks highest up on the chain. They’re still “reviewing it”, but if they’ve pushed it off and denied it could be their product. It’s sad.

Sadly a bone stock 2016 came in to VE today with a spun rod bearing and safe oil level. I’ll be at CAAP on Thursday and will meet with a few other folks but doubt it’ll go anywhere:(

We also have a report in the forums about a 2017 ACR with the blown glass/defroster issue, that was a known issue on 2013’s… FCA is denying warranty coverage for the blown glass… WTF! they can’t blame this on a “mod”

I personally think FCA needs a reshuffle from the top down. Someone needs to remind them a large number of Viper owners use FCA vehicles in their business and personal life… Repeatedly denying warranties is a really bad precident to set.

Is that the second GenV ACR with blown rear glass?? I know of a 2016 that had this issue as I bought his 2009 ACR HC..

Really is a shame all the good ole names have moved on that cared
