Hello everyone. I have been reading this very useful forum for a while and just took delivery of a 2017 ACR last weekend. Unfortunately, it has been raining. I first decided to wait for a nice day and then just took the car out in the rain. This was fun. What a beast!
I have owned many different cars including a few factory race cars and I find the ACR really impressive. Love the purpose the car has and how thoughtful designers were in building a real street/track compromise. So far, I drove the car 60 miles. Here are my first impression:
– the chassis is super stiff and in the street, the shocks are somewhat punishing. (nothing wrong with that)
– I *love* the noise inside. You can hear everything ranging from sand in the wheel well to valves doing their job. Just stay away from 2200 rpm where a weird resonance takes place
– Speaking of sound, the cold start is amazing.
– the brakes are a unbelievable.
Note to self:
– always look up before opening the rear lid. Got close to touching something once.
– yes you can really burn yourself getting out
Planned mods
I always keep my cars mostly stock and this one won’t be an exception. It needs some door sill and a tow hook, just in case.
I’m debating adding a 6 point harness but it would suck to change the seats as 6 points would need a submarine going through the seats.
This will mostly be a street queen, although a few trips to the local tracks appear unavoidable.
