Fantastic! Congratulations on the record lap. One correction… the un-named gentleman in the video mentions the Viper having the highest horsepower normally aspirated engine on the market. He likely meant to say highest naturally aspirated TORQUE. Ferrari and Lamborghini and possibly others make cars with 700+hp without FI.

      Anyway… well done… great job.

Yes, the audio got smashed up in the edit and the middle part got left out.

Great story. I love it when you drive it to the track, set record , and return to the dealership. Nice machines!

Glad to hear another record fall, congrats! I’m not familiar with CMP. Is this a relatively new facility?

no it’s older than dirt and brutal on tires.

Brutal on tires is an understatement. We ate 3 sets of front tires Friday and Saturday. Perhaps a little less camber on the front would have been better. We ran -3.2 deg front. At Road Atlanta last weekend we reduced it to -2.4deg, which we feel was not enough.

Congrats on the new record. What was the old record? Nice to see it setting records. It is no joke one of the fastest production cars!

“Run what ya brung” makes it so much more badass in my opinion.

      Congratulations!

I see Brad didn’t mention his time at Road Atlanta this past weekend.
While he didn’t break the production car lap record (I think it’s 1:25 something in an ACR driven by Randy Pobst), he still turned mid-1:27’s which is freaking hauling the mail in ANY car, much less one right off the showroom floor. Definitely not your everyday car dealer.

Dodge Viper ACR sets another track record

Add Carolina Motorsports Park to the long list of race tracks that the Dodge Viper has the claim of owning the fastest lap ever recorded for a production car.

Brad Wood of Gerry Wood Dodge in Salisbury, North Carolina set the lap record at CMP. The record was confirmed Thursday by CMP’s David Watkins who commented “Congratulations on it, that’s a damn good lap time in any car at CMP and you did it in a production car so my hat’s off to you sir!.”

The Official production car lap record at CMP now stands at 1:37:040 in the stock 2017 Dodge Viper ACR. To make it even more special, Brad Wood drove the car from the dealership to the track, set the record, and drove it home.

JB note: Some of you drove this track at VOI-12 ?

[ I was banned by the club BOD, 1st VOI I ever missed, thanks. ]
