I would like to thank the couple of region presidents that forward the Gatlinburg First Responders Fund raiser. As you can see, we only had 16 members/enthusiasts respond, although the average donation was very high, thanks to several donations in excess of $150.00. We have only had donations from four regions so far. Based on this Sam Goldfarb (OH region) has offered his time and money to make 10 banners to be given to the ten individuals who make the highest donations.
Sam and I, with the help from Maurice’s great photography, are trying again to encourage members to contribute see link:

I think Joel said the fire destroyed one VOA member’s primary residence and three VOA member’s vacation homes, yes these members houses were insured, but it sure would be nice for them to know that we as a club cared enough about their community to sacrifice two coffees at Starbucks or a night of eating pizza to help these four families. Hopefully, we are not the type of club to just sit by and not help this community out. I remember back in Oct, a Region brought it to our attention that saw Jacob Hall, (the six year old who was killed at his school playground in Townsville, SC) on a national news feed wearing a t-shirt with a Viper on it and thought it would be a great idea for us to attend the funeral. Several of us, some traveling more than 300 miles attended the funeral and provided the family our condolences and club memorabilia. That’s the club I joined and thought it was more than just driving high priced vehicles. Let your conscience be your guide, if you feel that 16 is enough to represent the VOA, don’t encourage your members to join in this effort. If you thing you can help in any other way call me at 828-442-3393.
Thanks.
Jeff Barnes,
President of the VOA of the Carolinas
