Sounds like the emergency release has taken the water level down , but there has not been a notice for those who needed to evacuate that they could return. Pretty crazy as one has to wonder how many could have been actually affected as the dam collapse would have likely caused damage clear into Sacramento and beyond. Prayers to all and let’s hope repairs are begun as soon as possible , as it could like take years to get this dam back up to a major safety level?

The dam is safe. It’s the spillway that’s in danger of failure. The difference is exponential in terms of potential damage and destruction, but that doesn’t diminish the devastating effects on the evacuation of 180,000 people.

At least that’s what is being reported at the present time.

There definitely was a lot of flooding, mudslides, fallen trees, and power outages. I live up in the hills, and was cut off from civilization for a little while. This next week should be interesting – the ground is saturated, and there are a number of storms lined up that could dump another five or six inches of rain. I’m fully expecting some more trees to come down and the road to be blocked again.

Just seen on British news that the Oroville Dam is in a dangerous state and 200,000 people are being evacuated!

Hoping members and their families are safe.
