As mentioned in the newsletter that went to members, this year is an election year and I’m just sending another reminder for those who may be interested (even perhaps for the future 20-21 cycle – best to dip your feet in early). We’ve had 4 candidates step up for each of the 4 positions so far for next term (thank you to them, names/bio’s coming shortly), though we still have time if anyone else wants to inquire.

The directorships are also a way to warm up to things as I know it seems like a big commitment to be an officer (not as bad as some would think – but certainly is work!). We have director roles for so many things in the club, it’s a good way to stay in the pipeline. This is a large leadership group and exposure does a lot to make people comfortable with the larger offices. The VOA sets itself apart from other clubs by having a large contingent of leaders, a path for new people to get involved, and proper process to facilitate it (this isn’t a good old boys club…). And, any VOA member can become an officer of the club (you don’t have to be a past president). We offer a stepped approach. It’s hard for everyone to see all the detailed good work people do, though we do see the result of it. For those who volunteer in all the various offices and directorships (webmaster, moderators, call center people, track director, social media, events director, magazine editor, etc.. etc…), thank you much for all the things you guys do. It really makes all this work well. Thanks everyone!
