Just saw this thread.
I certainly recall more that one such hookup being discussed on this or the other club forum.
I also know first hand that the data can be streamed to an external built monitoring device based on a several semester long Gen II Viper heads up display project that I sponsored for senior ECE Purdue-Indy students. YES, the sampling is slow but it did work. This was well before the type of devices that later came to the marketplace.
I will try a search for Auto-meter or Innova to see what they currently offer.
