Can you insurance it as a classic? Here in AZ that exempts you from smog testing.

Are you sure the test is plug in? Not sniffer? ID seems more relaxed!
My bet is that you can plug-play the 01 PCM but WILL have to break-it-in for some # of run cycles…..maybe more than usual 5. When it was put away, were there CELs in the memory?
Have not seen those Pizza Dish cut-out wheels in a long while !
Saved 1.5 lbs/wheel!

I would claim discrimination of religion, since smog tests are against my religious beliefs.da959c72-0d8e-4491-a2af-9595ef682ae5_1749094817768-8.gif

Great suggestion above , check to see if the age of the vehicle has anything to do with the requirement. Many States are 20 to 25 years old to claim Classic Status and if so the smog concern may be moot. Hopefully an Idaho VOA member will chime in and let you know for sure, though you can likely check the State Statutes on their Government site.
Best of luck and Merry Christmas.

A quick Google search told me that the car would need to be 30 years old. At that point, you can register it as a “Classic” vehicle. As always, rules and restrictions apply:
“Classic” license plates are black on white. Every three years you will receive an ownership verification card to verify that the vehicle and license plate are still in
use and your address is current. By affixing your signature below, you hereby certify that the vehicle is over 30 years old, that it does not qualify as an “Idaho Old
Timer”, that it is in original or authentically-restored condition without major modifications from factory specifications, and that it will not be used for
commercial or regular personal transportation.Cars registered in Idaho as Classic vehicles are exempt from smog requirements.

Living in Lake Tahoe, I did not have to smog my Viper. Now that I am moving to Boise, Idaho, which is in ADA county, my Viper will fail, since it does not have the OEM computer in it. Sean Roe took my computer out to make his supercharger work better. He put a 1996 computer in my 2001 Viper. I have the OEM computer, can I just swap them out myself, so I can pass smog, or will it run like crap when I do the swap? My engine is now normally aspirated. I took off the Sean Roe S/C years ago, and rebuilt the motor with all new upgraded internals. So can I just do the swap, or is there a Viper tech close to the Boise area that can help me out? TIA
