Funny that soon after you posted this, I saw one for the first time driving on the highway.
How often do you get asked when you’re going to turbo it? ????
-
I got it 4/30/2021 and probably 4 times. I am not going turbo yet for a few reasons.
1 fuel economy
2 reliability
3 money
4 daily driving
5 contact patch1.I don’t get good milage as it is. When I brought it back the 200 mile drive I killed half a tank the average was 13.6 MPG. I was going slow around 55 then had to run up to 70 then up and down around 30 times and on throttle… GOOD BYE MPG. I have gotten around 20-30 when I have taken it out and drove it to school. With a turbo I may get 8 to 10 on boost.
2. Its a 2J so its strong but I don’t want chance it, the car has 187600 miles. I don’t want to risk hurting the engine with boost.
3. I have other things like locks, sway bars links, lights, a mirror, rust repair, body work.
4. Its my daily driver, I may go turbo when its not the only car I own. Its not fast enough to set the world on fire but it is fun to drive. I plan on addressing the issue with my air box being cracked and my exhaust leak… Its very predictable on a pull or just a 0-60 run. I think its low to mid 7s with me in the car. Its not boring for a first car.
5. I have 225s in the front and 215s in the rear so I don’t have the contact patch for anything over 450ish HP. -

Cool!

Turbocharging the car shouldn’t affect the MPG too much. People expect a drop, but there typically isn’t one, maybe even an improvement – outside of you not being able to keep your foot out of it, that is.
But I definitely understand all the others. That kind of horsepower is a painful addiction, lol. I like that I can DD my Cobalt right now when the Viper needs something… but I’ve also been eyeballing 1000cc injectors and 25-28 psi – a recipe for disaster.

That’d probably be good. Something in the mid-50 mm range would make for a terrific daily driver with quick response and torque.
I had a friend with a MKIII Supra; the 7M. He had a 3076R with a 0.48 A/R hotside. It made the car ridiculously fun. He could hit full boost in the low-2000 rpm range.
You won’t break any horsepower records, but you’ll have a ton of fun.
And the sweet spot would likely be 15-20 psi. You can obviously run more if you wanted, but 15-20 psi would be the golden zone on a smaller turbo.

I was driving my SportCross and I got a check engine light.

Yeah, that sounds like a gas cap issue.

What do most people use to tune those ECU’s?

I want to find how to get lights like that! -
I don’t have a Viper yet but I do have something about as cool. An IS300 Sportcross. It’s a wagon version of an IS300 only around 3100 of these funky little long roofs were sold in the good old USA.
I need to fix some rust on it. At 18 a 2JZ powered wagon is cool.Attachment not available
