I’ve built a turbo kit and went back and fourth over the past year about using it on my engine (creampuff motor) at low boost (yes yes i know). However i’ve decided i’m going to run whats been built already at low boost and see how it pans out. If it gives me a bunch of trouble, i’ll remove and go back to the drawing board.
So… looking into oil scavenge pumps. The ExaPump seems to be very quiet and reliable from the info i’ve seen around online, and seems to be the go-to. Does anyone have experience with the TurboWerx Exa pump or Exa Mini or any other variations of their pump in relation to scavenging oil from two turbos on a viper in the footwells? Alternatively, if you have experience or recommendations on other pumps, please post!
I already have 1 psi check valves in the 4an oil feed lines before each turbo to keep oil from pooling up in the turbos after shutdown and causing smoke issues on start.
I’m looking to mount this pump hopefully on the frame-rail or perhaps front area of the metal trans tunnel plate under the driveshaft area.
I’ve seen a few places some say running 6AN return lines from each turbo tee’d together and then run into the pump and pushing it back into the pan or valve cover. I realize smaller line isn’t the norm for return lines on turbos, but since there is a suction pump behind it i believe this tends to keep things moving rather than pooling in larger lines? Someone correct me here if i’m wrong. Wouldn’t mind hearing from those that have a background in fluid dynamics or mechanical engineering and such.
