My 2003 Viper has what seems to be whine coming from the power steering pump. It’s a steady whine that follows RPM, but turning the steering wheel has no impact on the sound. The steering feels fine, but I’d prefer to address sooner rather than wait for something to fail. It has also had a slow power steering leak for a while that is most likely coming from the high pressure hose fitting on the pump.

I took the pump off today to get an idea of what’s needed and to start the fluid cleanup.

What are good options in the present day for pumps and power steering hoses? Do I need to buy both high pressure hoses and replace when I install the new pump? Who’s a good source for these? Can I get away with just replacing the fitting with a better design?

When I reinstall, what is the best way to ensure there isn’t any air in the system?

      Thank you
