It looks like you almost had the whole track to yourself aside from that one other car. It’s all about throttle control with that monster of yours.

We grid up by lap times, then they give us a gap. So you should never have to lose time passing a car etc. When I first got there I was slow so had to start way in the back and move my way up.

AZ, thanks for posting!!! I picked up a few things from your lines that might get me 1 – 1.5 seconds, I figure fresh slicks another 1.5 or so. I think your “white knuckle” driving is worth 4 of the final 5 second gap. Really appreciate the video and again congrats on your accomplishment!!!

Would love to see the video angle to also show your hand positioning. Darius has a video from Laguna and I tell folks before they think their ACR is going to do XXX times, take a look at his video and tell me you can drive like that! Take care and best wishes as always!! Mike

The entrance and cornering speeds between 0:50-1:20 are insane to me. I can’t even comprehend being in that situation and doing what I just saw. Thanks for sharing!

That Hill, know as Phil Hill, takes some getting used to. You have to know your entry marks and placements as the exit is blind and you need to land on the downside proper or go off. When you hit it right it’s amazing. But the more speed you carry like in a Viper and especially a modified Viper the bigger the pucker factory. I actually think it’s scarier going the other direction. Sometimes it’s blind faith, a lot of times luck but we can call it skill.

My SmartyCam finally worked! LOL. My least concern on track weekends is worrying about video getting recorded, but thankfully for the 2020 Global Time Attack Buttonwillow weekend it worked! Here is my best lap- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zehlv0sVtFw I’m a white-knuckle driver (against every advice every good driver has tried to tell me) my entire body from head to toe is still sore, especially my forearms and abs.
