I have to claim ignorance as far as chevy models go besides the Camaro and their trucks.
Was this called the cobalt, previously?
-
No, this is a full size RWD V8 sedan. Built in Australia on the same platform & drivetrain as the last gen Camaro. Down there it’s called a Holden. GM has brought other Holdens here in the past as the Pontiac GTO of 10 years ago, and the Pontiac G8. It really flies under the radar both looks-wise, and in general, since Chevy seems to do no marketing or promotion for the SS other than putting its face on their NASCAR racers. I believe it is the only manual transmission available in a large sedan except the BMW M5. They have announced the factory is closing in 2017 and no replacement is expected (sounds familiar)

I read the other day that they are going to put the old ZL1/CTS-V LSA motor in them next year or something.

I’ve a 10month old and a 9 year old and often miss having a back seat.I had a ’96 Impala SS and this appears to be the spiritual successor to that car!

Charger Scat Pack or SRT are excellent choices as well.

I was going to trade in my mustang for one, but couldn’t because my car still needs the airbag recall fix and ford mailed me a letter saying it’ll be ready in Q4 this year. Oh well, I want to see what they have for 2017. The LSA motor is just a rumor, if it doesn’t make it in the car, it will not make it stateside.
Look up w427, that was the g8 version with a 7.0 ls7.
The SS is nicely priced with that 20% off incentive.
Ls3 motor, 6 speed auto or manual, magnetic suspension, brembo 4 piston all around. I really wish GM used the alpha chassis for the body and an LT4. But then again there still wouldn’t be any marketing, what a shame. -
As a former Pontiac G8 owner I had been eyeing the SS since it came out, and this week’s incentive of 20% off MSRP direct from GM gave me the excuse to pick up this red 6 speed as the wife’s car/daily driver. Great car, very comfortable and spacious, nice ride with the magnetic shocks. A perfect complement to the Viper, and sadly another unloved model going away as the last of its kind.
