My ’96 GTS has a little over 4K miles and has spent most of it’s life inside, and has never been rained on. I’ve kept it on battery tender since new and it’s just now on it’s 3rd battery. After changing the battery the last time I noticed that the power windows, turn signals, fan blower and maybe some other things aren’t working. Since I hadn’t driven it in over a year I honestly can’t say if this stuff quit with the new battery, or was already that way and I didn’t notice it.

I posted a question somewhere on the internet about 6 months ago (which I can’t find now) and one person who offered help said that if I had power out of a certain fuse that it would have to be the ignition switch. I bought the switch listed in the Standard Ignition book for this car, and assuming the part is correct I can’t find it on the car. I’ve got the lower dash out, and the steel plate under it. The switch furnished appears to bolt on the column somewhere and would need a rod to it to actuate, much like an early Chevelle, which I’m familiar with.

So the questions are: If this is the correct switch, where does it mount. If it’s NOT the correct switch, is what I’m looking for in the area of the actual key, which has a bunch of wires coming out? ALSO, any opinions on if this is the switch, and if so why it would fail on a low mileage car that’s never seen any weather or any other situation that would likely cause corrosion.
