Getting to crunch point where need to retire my Kinesis K28’s (18×10 and 18×13’s).
Since there will never be anything like the MXX3’s or even Pilot Sports (Unless Michelin Classic makes a run), I want to improve handling. I still want maximum longevity and then, rain performance.
QUESTION: Will dropping from 35 to 30 series AND 1/4 lower be noticeable improvement in responsiveness / turn-in?
NOTE: I’m not looking to improve cornering limit. I just like driving a car where the instant I turn the steering wheel, I want NO LAG. I find taking a 40# front bumper off a 3500# car is a substantial seat-in-the-pants improvement.
Looks like only hope of a “street” tire is the Pilot Sport PS2 and the P Zero Rosso – both are 220/AA/A and 10/32nds new. Every time I read about M vs P, M is always the better tire. Frankly, I’d probably buy the best price deal assuming tires are similar in what I’m looking for.
NOTE: If I had 18×11’s, I’d get 315/30’s w/o 2nd thoughts but the min rim is 10.5. Thought about getting +0.5″ barrels but that is just getting too stupid to hang onto the K28’s. If I had any sense, I’d sell he K28’s and get something (anything) else.
