Cool pics !
The C8 seems to have some good potential……. -
I was at Spring Mountain in 2016 after buying a C7 Z06. Great facility. That 127 near Death Valley is an easy road to generate speed on. We got into triple digits even in our rented Chevy Malibu. Very scenic as well. Nice story. Sounds like you had a great time. The C8 is a terrific car. I am enjoying it.

Thanks for the kind words Capevettes. Our ultimate destinations was Dream Racing and at the top of my list of cars to drive was the C8. I only did four warm up laps on a short corse that was new to me, with cold tires and all the nanny’s on..
But I will say i was very impressed with that car on so many levels.

Great photo..We just busted 100k on our 05 and I absolutely agree we rarely if ever see any Vipers on the road. We have been up and down the PCH / Highway 1 from So Cal to Seattle twice, to Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina, Route 66 from Santa Monica to Springfield Il for the Route 66 Mother Road Show, and just about every road in Northern and Southern Ca. It’s nice to have a car that you never see on the road. As soon as this COVID slows down where headed Highway one with a buddy that has a C7.

I loved reading your post. I was able to imagine the trip, car, scenery, and speed! Nevada has so many great highways that seem to stretch on forever. I love my adopted home state, fled CA 9 years ago and never looked back. One of my memorable trips was driving from Vegas to Reno through Goldfield, Tonopah, and Hawthorne in my 16 Hellcat. I highly recommend traveling the Extraterrestrial Highway sometime. Highway 50 is great too.

Just last week myself and a lady friend of mine were traveling from the SF Gay Area down to Dream Racing Located right in the middle of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. To drive a handful of exotic cars on track. We had left a day early so I thought I would stop over for the night in Pahrump Nevada the home of Spring Mountain Raceway. As I had attended a three day C7 Corvette driving class the year before and was so impressed with the facility and wanted to share it with my traveling companion. As we were traveling north on Hwy 127 at a very high but yet undisclosed rate of speed. On a very well maintained two lane “one lane each way” highway that just skirts the southern end of Death valley. We had be flying along for a good half hour enjoying the very impressive views of the mountains on both side of this large and open landscape. It was late afternoon and with the air temperature in the mid sixties and not a sole on the road traveling in our directions it almost seemed like I had to hold back the car as she wanted to run. In this span of time we had encountered perhaps maybe three other vehicles traveling the other way. To say this area is desolate would be a great understatement. In some places you can look out and see the road dead straight for twenty miles or more with an occasional small dip or a rise. On one such rise off maybe five miles away a could just make out what looked to be a white car with two blue center strips. It was only seconds later that this oncoming car was a hundred yards in front of me and it became clear that it was a GEN 5 GTS-R. With only enough time to give the other driver a flash of my headlights to acknowledge our meeting and in an instance it was just a small speck in my rearview mirror.
What are the odds out in the middle of nowhere to come across such a rare reptile. In all my years of driving I believe I have seen only a half a dozen Vipers out on the road not counting club events. Due to some unintentional button pushing by my traveling companion most of the pictures taken of this trip were lost. Of the few that remained here are two. One is one of the paddocks at Spring mountain full of C8’s and the other is my car out in front of an abandon brothel the Cherry Patch I believe, north of Pahrump. DSCN0786.jpg
