Hello All,
Curious if anyone has any real world experience purchasing through Vroom?
Long story short, I was ready to do a PPI on a local Challenger Hellcat at a dealer on Thursday…2 hours before we were to get there, they sold the car to someone else. I didn’t want to put a deposit down until I least looked at it mechanically. I was pretty bummed.
Later that afternoon I refreshed all the auto search websites and sure enough the same exact car, with a lot less miles came up in a Vroom add. I called them up and spoke to one of their representatives for probably over an hour. Essentially, they said you have the car for 7 days/250 miles to make sure everything is sound. If you find anything wrong, then you’ll be completely refunded and they’ll come and pickup the car. Seems pretty promising, so I put a $500 deposit down to hold it.
I worked out all the financing arrangements yesterday and left a WM with the Vroom rep early yesterday morning that I was ready to move forward. I haven’t heard anything back since, though he said he was available the entire day. Ok, give him the benefit of the doubt.
Then I just started searching some reviews of Vroom and let’s say they’ve been less than desirable. Mainly, they’re terrible at communication, have lost bank checks while in their possession, the cars have come with a lot of undisclosed issues, etc. Just lots of terrible stuff.
I know people tend to flock to the internet to complain about an experience, as opposed to reporting a good experience, but I definitely have to say that the reviews I’ve read so far were pretty damn tough.
So I figured I’d come here and ask if anyone has any personal experience from themselves or close ones? Luckily, I haven’t signed any contracts or anything, but am considering cancelling my deposit…as it still pains me to buy a car sight unseen.
All the best!
Matt-
