Yeah a shitty immobilizer on Canadian cars and drls

Speedometer has kph on the outer scale, mph on the inner. Odometer reads in km. If you swap out the speedo cluster for a U.S. one, the odometer will read the correct miles since the data is stored in the body control module, not the cluster. Fog lights are set up as DRL’s. They are on all the time until you turn on your headlights and then they go out. Now they revert to normal operation, only come on when you pull the switch on the stalk. Oh yeah, the Canadian one’s go faster 🙂

All Gen4’s in Canada you must push unlock on the fob before cranking or the vehicle will not start

The speedo still has MPH on the outer reading and the odometer is actually in miles not kilometers. Is this something that would have needed to be changed over by the dealer that bought the car at auction so they could sell it in the USA?

Is there any way to eliminate the immobilizer and deactivate the DRL's?There is no way to eliminate the immobilizer, I tried. The DRL’s any dealer can turn them off with there scan tool.

Are there any differences in cars that were built for the Canadian market? I’ve noticed one of the cars on my “wish list” was originally a Canadian car. All the gauges are in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. First, is it pretty basic to swap these gauges or is there some underlying issue that would make this more difficult? Secondly, are there any other differences that I should be aware of? Thanks in advance!
