Clutch pedal ignition lock out switch?

I bypassed mine because the switch malfunctioned in the middle of an important trip. I believe they epitomise a nanny state of protection which has crept into car production.

I disconnected the switch and inserted a small piece of wire into the part which feeds into the engine loom. In that way, I fool the system that I have the clutch depressed. No current draw, so no issues with the battery.

If you are confident that you will not start the car in gear, I recommend doing what I have done. If you need the extra safety, replace the switch. I believe it is the same part fitted to Jeeps, so any dealer will have readily available one.

Thanks, I was just told the GM part is the same and about 1/3 the cost of the Viper part. I would still like to have it though.

Does anyone have the part number? I heard it was same switch as Chevy Corvette part number and and chevy is cheaper. Mine is acting up and with everything else I am doing, now is time to fix. Thanks!
