Nick was on rails this past Saturday when the bulk of the drivers were complaining it was a slow track day, yet he not only was under the magical 1:40 time on the Grand Prix 2.5 mile configuration he actually did it on the layout designated GP with slow 8. Turn 8 is a chicane and it can be run with a high speed chicane or what is considered a semi sharp left and finishing the chicane. One of my buddies mentioned that he was pretty sure someone else had run a 1:39 in TTU and he was correct , but Nick was even faster. The cool part is it is considered Warp 9 if anyone does a 1:39 with the " Fast Turn 8 " and to do it using the slower sharper left turn instead of essentially a long sweeping chicane is mega impressive. He did it in his Comp Coupe and he probably isn't even aware yet it accomplished this as he had to hurry home to see one of his kids baseball games.
That drive home took him an hour and 39, haha!

It was great seeing you this weekend Bill! Glad the Mach 1 held up as you had hoped, and in a lot of areas surprised you in the positive!
Yes, my car did set the track record. However, I wasn’t driving haha I had let Brad Perkins (owner of Chicane Motorsports out of Olathe) take it out. We were battling some low speed compression in a few corners and we made adjustments before that session and he wanted to verify. He ran back to back 39s, both lower than the record. Donna DQ’d the times on Saturday, but the off-site scoring and timing updated the record nonetheless, should be fixed today.
