Bruce, I installed one on my car

      http://driveviper.com/forums/threads/2002-Installing-a-dashcam?highlight=Dashcam

I love it. It has come close to recording a few near misses from idiots a few times. I use 64GB cards and get 10h record time each cars.

Wire it to the radar outlet in the rear view for a seamless install.

Harold, I was following your thread before joining the forum, and it will be very helpful for wiring. Glad your camera is working out! Thanks

The only “wiring” is a power source you can plug into in the rearview – so you don’t have to run wires anywhere. Nice feature…

Bruce, I did a quick scan of the linked info but couldn’t find the GPS rate. Is it a 1 Hz unit? or faster?

Looks like a nice add-on, low profile.

      Hey Rich,

No idea…does the resolution of the graph in the link give you any idea?

Ahhh, no. My thought was that you’d really like to have the GPS rate of at least 5 or 10 Hz for track use.

I’m impressed by the video captured at night with that camera and setup…

I’ve wanted a camera for track use for a while now but never settled on anything. The advantages of having a dash cam became evident last year when I was targeted by police when driving my XKR, and while I was able to successfully defend myself in court, a dash cam recording would have had the matter dropped quickly. It seems every camera has pros and cons, and I hope this one will do the job for both road and track use.

Being a dash cam it will automatically record everytime I use the car without touching it or thinking about it, and overwrite memory as necessary until and unless there’s an incident on the road. Some of the features I liked about this one is that it’s very small, can be easily removed from the car by detaching camera from its wired mount, has a small built-in display for ease of set-up and viewing, and has built-in GPS and G-Meter to record and later display speed, location and g-forces along with the video using their own software, or one called Registrator shown in the link.

Hopefully I’ll be able to capture and share some interesting video of the TA on the road course. I ordered it from Amazon.ca and got an email that it had shipped within 2 hours of ordering. The car is expected to ship from CAAP this week also, but at least I know I’ll have the camera to play with by the weekend!

Anyone else have this dash cam in any vehicle?

      Bruce
