Inst’t the President (?) of Pirelli, North America a member of the VOA. He was recognized during the Tail of the Dragon in 2015…maybe Alex can reach out to him.

I’ve switched to Kuhmos 🙂 Have ordered almost over 30 of them from TireRack so far, we now have a wholesale account, lol.
I don’t know where the myth of ‘o they have to make parts for cars for X years’ thats never been the case. I’ve had 1-2 year old cars that need a component and they have been discontinued. Its really a nightmare sometimes. Its getting better.
That being said, i’m sure they are just in the middle of a lul in production, hopefully someone can reach out to Pirelli to find out whats going on.

Beth and I have been having discussions about this as I’ve heard some people complaining about availability. I decided to look into it. After 1 month going around and not getting an answer I ran it up the chain with Ralph, David C, and others in FCA and Pirelli. The bottom line is…
Pirelli did indeed run short of stock – on all of their Viper tires – and they simply don’t want to acknowledge it. Even in the early days when it was brought to my attention – they told me they were making them and just on back order. But when it got worse and I asked again and involved more people, this is what I learned…
The Corsa’s are on back order, but still being made. Seems like a 90 day from the factory. The PZero’s are out of stock and NOT being produced anymore… I questioned how it’s possible that we can simply discontinue an OEM tire on a car still being made. They didn’t provide an answer that I can share publicly (I mean – they GAVE me no real answer), they did reveal that there is a next gen PZERO they’re finishing development on and THAT will be the next PZERO tire.
So the problem is the gap that we have to jump (and their lack of keeping production up). And they would not provide anything that can be shared publicly. So… how to handle? I suggest we use social media to make requests of Pirelli since they won’t provide us anything formal that we can share. They will not provide us a canned answer. I told them that he shortage is a bigger deal than I think they believe, I don’t think they know how many people need tires. As for FCA, they bought a large stock of tires already, so they have enough to build their cars – but they aren’t helping owners much relative to existing cars. A lack of attention to a car that’s going away for them. Tim K hasn’t even responded… I don’t think FCA sees this as anything actionable by them. They feel it’s a Pirelli issue.
In all my years with Viper, this one did actually surprise me. Can’t believe it. So I suggest we push Pirelli with SM requests on where to get tires. In the meantime there are non-OEM tires that will fit both he 18 and 19″ rim sizes. But I’d be the first to say, that’s not what I want myself…

I just ordered one front and two rear Corsas from TireRack today (I already have one front), thinking it might take a while, and I got the shipping notification in like, one hour.
Maybe I snapped up the last ones!!
Suckers.

We ran out of tires in Canada too: from 1992 – 2017 🙁
Some guys managed to spot tires in Europe for older 1992-1996 Vipers. Twice the regular price with shipping.

I’ve received quite a few emails and calls from my members and viper owners about GenV tires. Apparently the PZero tires are not available at all from Discount or Tire Rack etc.. and the Corsa are in short supply with no real resupply date given.
I thought manufacturers of tires were obligated to manufacture tires for a vehicle for a minimum of 5 years after production ends? The GenV Viper may be coming to an end but they are still in production for at least a few months! Where are the tires? Even if you have a Gen1 you can still buy a set of PS2 for it!
Anyone know what is going on with Pirelli? Will replacement tires ever be made or will we be stuck with running 345 rears in whatever we can find? Right now it looks like everyone will have to run a 345 race tire rear in the near future.
Michelin will not confirm if they will make a 295/345 in the Cup2 or Pilot Sport 4S.
Any info we can pass on to the members would be great, maybe even a hard hitting investigative article in a upcoming magazine, push Michelin and Pirelli to make our sizes again….
