Have the original brake fluid in the car? If so , flush and put in a high quality DOT 4 – Barber can be hard on brakes. There are a ton of questions everyone will have , but essentially how many miles on your car, when have some other fluids been changed, are you running stock pads, etc. ? If you have the PZeroes on the car , I would recommend starting at 29 rear ( cold), and maybe 2-3 lbs higher in the front to negate some of the push. Have fun and what a great track to run on.

If you have done it before , then I would say no, but if not just take to a good garage–Motul is a good choice for fluid. Assume you already have a Snell Approved Helmet, and there is a way to tighten your lap belt , so give me a call tomorrow — have a client just pop in now.

Its ok to rotate

@Bill
I enjoyed chatting with you earlier and I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to talk cars with a newbie in the sport. Your passion for this stuff is awesome!
BTW, I tried the seat positioning out with a helmet and I think it’ll work so I will not be buying a seat lowering kit for Barbers and just see how it feels on the track. -
No problem and take some pics as Barber is on many a Snakecharmers bucket list!!!

I’ve had 3 track days at Circuit of the Americas in Austin with my car. Here’s some things I learned or changed. I got brake fade on the stock pads even with Castrol SRF fluid, getting up to 140mph – 150mph on the straights. On Pirelli Corsa’s I started with a cold PSI of 26 on all 4 tires. I did check the pressures regularly and had to bleed off air between sessions, they would heat up to the low 30’s.
I upgrade the pads to the Carbotech’s that Bill and Mark recommended and added the ACR brake cooling ducts, the brakes were much better with zero fade. They worked perfect for 2 days in a row. (8 – 20 minute sessions). I also noticed that I burned about a quart of oil during the 2 track day weekend. Since we have similar cars being a 2015 GT I would say all you need is upgraded brake fluid and pads to start. Don’t forget to change the oil to 15w-50!

Me neither until I started researching. Here’s an old thread I found.

Worthless to use anything other than the SRT Engineer designed filter for the Viper ( ends in 041) . SRT and Wix got together years back to design a specific filter for the Viper’s high g loads, pressure, flow back tendencies , etc. and frankly no need to even consider anything else,imho.
Don’t get stung by some Dealer who is not paying attention and tries to sell you the old , black , MoPar filter, though.

Update,
My car was in the shop last minute before my track day and I only had a couple days to cancel without losing all my $$.
Bottom line is I canceled but just got my car back. I will still go and do a meet/greet and some parade laps.This will be a great time to test my Garmin Virb. 😉

So, i just registered for my first track day in the viper and second track day ever.
I remember someone talking about being able to rotate the front tires left to right and vise versa. Is that true??
It’s a local track(Barbers in Bham) so i wont be staying over night. I’m taking a cooler, chairs, torgue wrench for the lugs, etc.Any other tips i should know about?
