main reason im running 283/35 on the front is since the rear is available in 345 vs 355 stock, I wanted to go down 10mm all around instead of 20mm on the front. Actual treadwidth between manufacturers vary. Despite the advertised numbers its not very standardized

345 Michelins are still wider than 355 Pirellis. Michelin sizes run a little bigger.

Actual treadwidth between manufacturers vary. Despite the advertised numbers its not very standardizedI think that it is standardized; however, they do not measure the tires in a normal usage condition. They measure them without load and at maximum rated pressure which has no correlation to actual usage. I expect that the construction characteristics of the tire, such as sidewall stiffness and rubber hardness substantially affect the actual width in usage and would be different between manufacturers, and also different between different tire types of the same manufacturer. (The width will also be different from the specification when inflated to normal pressures, loaded with the actual car’s weight, and mounted on whatever width wheel is being used on the car if different than the width wheel specified for the measurement standard.)

The confusion is the tire specification does not state tread width, it states section width. The widest point on the sidewall.

Or do the Pirelli run smaller, HmmmmmmmmmI just checked the tire rack site, the michelin pilot super sports have 12.7″ tread width, pzero grips have 12.4″ tread width.
Two best sites to get info are tirerack.com and tiresize.com. tiresize.com has aspect ratio (side wall height) info too.

For me the front 35 aspect ratio is too big. I’ve seen the typical 285 width route, but has someone done 275? This would make the overall diameter 25.6″ vs 25.9″ on the 285 width. Im trying to avoid the thicker sidewall look, and I think the 275 width might be the key.
I’m looking for a street tire, no R888R or Cup 2s or ANY pirellis. Also, im running the stock pzero grips. Looking to ditch these quick.
Edit: just checked tiresize.com
285/35 has a sidewall height of 3.9″
275/35 is 3.8″The stock pzero grip size: 295/30 is 3.5″
