I believe the 1996 RT is a Gen 2 setup, should be a direct bolt-in.

Maurice’s book lists the 96 RT/10 as having the new suspension but old engine. Doesn’t say if the diff or trans was updated to the GTS spec, so I’m not sure how to tell what differential you have in your 96 RT/10. Hopefully someone here knows…

All I know is I am looking at exact same set up for my 96 RT/10. Could you PM me where you got it and about how much. I have seen prices all over the map and been trying the nail down how big to make the piggy bank as well as where I am going to buy it. Thanks! I believe the Gen II housing is a direct bolt on for us but would be good to hear from someone who knows for sure.

As far as price goes the Quaife is worth a few thousand and more to grind the housing to install.

Is there an article, DIY instructions or do you know what or where the grinding takes place to get it to fit? Just curious as all assembled, core exchange prices seem to be about $3,500 shipped. Since Quaife diff itself seems to be about $1,750 shipped, just trying to see if I am better off buying all parts and having my Saleen/Viper Tech Mechanic tackle it. He is pretty good but has never done one.

The Wavetrac diff is very similar to a Quaife and you do not need to modify the housing at all.

What Mark said … Unitrax also recommends the Wavetrac as better performing than a Quaife.

Quaife is adamant that its all-gear LSD is a direct fit to any Viper and SRT differential. It offers life-time warranty. I have heard a lot of positive reviews on Quaife products relevant to Vipers and I have first class service for my other performance cars.

Considering installing a Gen 2 diff with 3.55 gears and Quaife LSD on a stock 1996 RT10. Is the transplant a direct fit without any modifications?
