Give your customers a Viper Quarterly magazine. Let the VOA speak for itself. 🙂

I SO feel your pain! I despise their complete disregard of ethics.
Here, I just noticed this crap and posted in our mod area:
Can anyone respond this this complete BS! God I wish I wouldn’t let this this crap get to me. I despise dishonesty!

Default Re: Wow, srt homecoming open to all past and present owners, not exclusive
No transparency, deleting posts, complete disregard for the laws of the great state of Michigan that gave birth to the Viper. And there is no “America” anywhere to be found in the acronym VOA. Hmmm... -
I am very entertained by it and it has not hurt our region since we have no real struggle. The whole issue with being THE Viper club will play itself out by how each Board conducts itself. Case inpoint with the SRT homecoming event. We the VOA seem to have an understanding of the event while VCA is portraying a free event with unlimited guests. As long as we take the high raod and be honest with our members we will be in great shape. Politics is unfortunate in a car club when there is a competing faction per say. We are in the right place here.
Enjoy the drama, this year will be interesting on how both clubs play out.

Amazing such misinformation exists because Greg posted over there how many “extensive contacts” they have at Chrysler through their Mopar connection. :witless:
Scott: Best not to visit that thread. It will only get worse. Let them continue to make asses of themselves.

What you do have is access to those people. You need a hook, something that makes them want to join your event – whether it’s giveaways, a perk, or something that has never been done (and yes the mag is a big piece). Getting the mag in their hands – will make it’s way to other members. Perhaps getting a few copies and providing it for free is one way to do it. Staple the VOA “join us” card to it.
I won’t get into how much of this type of stuff is out there. The games and outright lies regarding the VOA homecoming is amazing. they’re telling their members that it’s free, SRT is providing the same exact stuff to anyone, etc… simply to confuse folks. and the games they’re playing with the giveaway is the same politics that have always existed. We made a pact not to do anything sneaky or below the belt. However the punches we’ve have to endure that are well below the belt have been numerous. Many people in the VCA are unaware, I don’t blame the members at all. It’s the leaders. You only need a few, and in there case there are 4 leaders who put a very concerted effort into not just pulling the wool over their members eyes, but taking shots to hurt us when they can. All we’ve done is play defense, it’s hard not to let them have it – but then we’ll be no different than them. All we can do is inform our members of the realities of where most members are, don’t let the VCA capitalize on funding to perpetuate this nonsense, and it should fade away. As the year warms up and clubs get busy, their members will realize there are no real regions that exist outside of the 3-4 pockets. VOI may also leave them with some big liabilities IF people don’t attend – as they’ll need lots of VOA people to make that work. Those are their challenges, we just have to make sure it doesn’t affect us and our members.
You’ll see a raffle car soon – they have to do it because they can’t sustain. And that’ll be a sore subject – because of their history with raffles and because their raffles are revenue generators for profit. But they need to do the money grab because they are still outsourcing everything and costs are still high (whereas a lot of our stuff is done in house). Plus, the bigger issue, is that they have a very small membership – so they can’t sustain. with a few hundred people (and many of them in Germany).
I know it’s frustrating, just persevere and keep an eye on things so they don’t affect you negatively. Now is the time to show value in each of our local clubs – think of something new something special to do. The national VOA committed to doing it’s part by providing a better magazine, better administration, better HQ, faster payments of your dues, monthly member badge distribution, better communication, meetings, etc… We are PROFOUNDLY quicker, faster, and have better quality. Their two mags don’t even stack up to one of ours on thickness, they haven’t printed member packets yet, their geographic coverage is very sporadic, costs are still high, solicitations continue to turn people off, etc… It’ll catch up, people do notice with time. It just takes longer when members can’t see as clearly through the haze of misinformation.

Since this is my place of work, I just don’t feel right pushing VOA while i’m ‘in uniform’ If/When I see these people outside of my job, its game on. At Daytona and Sebring race i left VOA business cards on every Viper who I knew was not already a member. Now that I have the magazines, i’m going to use those to my advantage as well.
the problem for me too is most of these people are not even close to my age bracket and they know Cathy way better than me. We will survive and we will take over this region from the VCA.

I wish a few of our officers would not play into the politics of the other club by publicly blasting them in front of it’s members and ours. It is not helping either cause and makes us look like we are on the defensive. I have wanted to post hundreds of times to defend us but it just ends up with creating more drama and hurt feelings. I really wish our board would stay out of it publicly and handle matters privately. The SRT and NVE1 event is showing some folks true colors about each other. Lets worry about our own house and have fun in July.

Didn’t want to publicly post this anywhere, just figured i’d rant to you guys. So I am a Viper tech at a dealer in the Orlando area. Most VCA members still come to me, because they love the fact a Viper owner gets to work on their car and my level of respect for the car. Current VCA members that came in this morning, all they needed was an oil change, they drove past 5 other SRT dealers just to have me work on it. So it shows how much they love me. They like most VCA members down here, have no idea what the VOA is or that it even exists.
Anyways, so we were just small talking and he was telling me about the Amelia Island spread that SRT had put out ‘for VCA’ (insert eye roll here) I didn’t mention that we had a few VOA members there as well but whatever. Anyways he was slightly upset on how SRT didn’t inform the club that they could go do a test drive in the new Gen 5. WTF??! I just bit my tongue and didn’t trash VCA that very instant. I know for a fact SRT told the clubs about being able to test drive the car… hell anyone who attended the show could do it!
The lack of info that gets passed around in the VCA is horrible. Cathy was there, she knew (or didn’t bother reading the info given to her) that this was out there.
This is the crap I have to deal with in Central Florida, its so hard recruiting members when they are so misinformed. I wish I could tell them to fuck the VCA and come join me, but if there was any backlash it could effect my job. I make it my attempt to go to many of the SRT functions that were put on down here (daytona and sebring) but most of the old people in VCA don’t attend those events anyways.
anyways… rant off.
