If the ecu loses power or you clear any codes a timer/counter starts and must reach a certain point before it is “ready”. The wifi or bluetooth obd2 scanners have this check built in so you can check it yourself.

There’s an equation of miles driven at X speed for X period of time to get the computer reset. I’ve read that formula somewhere. But don’t have a link for you. That’s why I posted the tech team, because I bet one of them knows the answer.

Your evap will not carry out the leak test and achieve ready status if the gas tank is more than 80% full. The test occurs immediately after engine start, so theoretically if you filled the car after every trip, it would never achieve ready status.

What year, what mods, and any more info on the “bypass” o2 sensor setup you mention?

Electronic O2 sensor simulators will NEVER pass OBD-2 heater monitors, hence, will never allow you to pass without special considerations and cycles where you need to know exactly what you are doing. Once they pass heater however with some help, they will remain passed until you have a dead battery. The tests must pass in a relative order, and it is stalling the routine at the O2 Heater test.

A message for everyone who has OBD-2 testing: DO NOT USE O2 SIMULATORS!

The best solution is to ditch the simulators, reinstall downstream sensors, and make sure you have REAL bungs in the exhaust for them regardless of cats being there or not. Then, use the “non-fouler” method to pull the sensor out of the exhaust stream. It will pass as normal, with or without cats.

This year I’m having a hard time getting a inspection sticker. My battery went dead last year at an event. I driven it over 1K miles and when I got home I needed an inspection sticker. They told me I need to drive it more because they said computer was not ready. My 02 sensors are completed, but I have 02 sensor simulator bypass units not sure if they are bad or not. But me Evap is saying not completed and a few other items not ready. Computer has no codes on it, what causing the computer not to read completed. I have had them for 10 years now. Does anyone know if they can be tested or where I could get 2 of them. Rick
