Hi Jeff, there isn’t currently a rule for that. I checked with the mods on their thoughts, as I like to let the teams responsible for overseeing the day to day function to weigh in most heavily. I pinged them on the concern just to see how they felt about it. We all agreed that making rules (especially for things that haven’t happened) probably isn’t warranted. This isn’t a repetitive problem, and one that is likely not going to repeat itself easily (not too many dealers buying 100+ Vipers these days – and for the foreseeable future – sadly).

I suggested we simply have Adrian (our sponsorship director) give Gerry Wood a call and make sure they don’t plan to go over board. They’ve only posted a few cars, so I’m not even sure that abuse is something we need to worry about (but can certainly help police if it happens). The classifieds aren’t usually too taxed, in fact I wouldn’t mind having many more posts there, so having some from them isn’t a bad thing. I told Adrian to politely ping them, given that we’re asking them to not do something (that they haven’t done yet) just ensure we don’t see 100+ ads for cars from them. You agree that’ll do? I think we’ll be ok.

Those are exactly my thoughts (only far better articulated that I could ever manage). The operative word here is “extraordinary”. If it weren’t for the confluence of a single dealer buyout of a final production run, we’d never have this potential issue and we’ll foreseeably never have it again. Best to “gently manage” the extraordinary circumstance.

      Guys,

I can see this guy, placing more and more on the forum, also when and if he starts taking Vipers for trade in, I am sure he will use the classified to sell them. Just think it should not be a place for a mass listing. He already has 4 of the 7 listed. He has owned a Viper for well over a year, didn’t join the club, until after he ordered all the remainder Vipers…I have a bad feeling about this. Where is he going to be when he sells all the Vipers, we have more sponsors that may feel the same way who by the way don’t post their Vipers for sell in the Classified. I’m hoping the Big 3 dealers will still remain National Sponsors, after 2017…Just my thoughts.

FYI here’s our present metric of most classified ads:

      ACRucrazy 6
      acrvprc 5
      dodgevipersforsale.com 4
      GerryWoodViper 4

The first 2 are mamba members, but ACRucrazy is one over the limit of 5.

Gerry Wood’s 4 ads do not appear to be particularly problematic present.

I don’t like Gerry Wood cause he almost lost me my 1of1 lol. but in the end he pays the sponsorship and I guess isn’t doing anything wrong. As of now I agree the ads aren’t overwhelming at all. Maybe make a separate section for “dealer cars” vs “private party cars” so members ads don’t get lost when Gerry Wood has 100 cars up for sale. No reason Viper Exchange isn’t going to be in the same situation. They have like 200+ vipers ordered right? “I’m sure Alex will figure it out 🙂 !

Great Idea, about having a “Dealer” section.

The limit is for members only… From the General Rules:

Advertising and offering parts or services in the forums are permitted only by VOA members and only to the extent that such offering is not “commercial” in nature (such determination shall be at moderator discretion). VOA members must also place a classified ad which must be linked to their forum post.
      • Advertising and offering parts or services by non-VOA members is permitted in the classified area only.
      • Classified advertisements will be limited to 5 ads for any single VOA member and 3 ads for Non-VOA members at any one time.

Thanks for clarifying that Kala. Sponsors have no limit at the present time.

As for establishing a new section for Supporting Dealers Only, this seems like a reasonable suggestion. Nonetheless, we really don’t need to address this concern until it actually presents a problem.

I don’t see the need to divide the two either at this point. We have several ways for members ads to show up… Members are encouraged to start a thread about their car for sale where they can post more photos and engauge potential buyers thru the threads. Also they can choose to highlight their ad inside of the classifieds section…

Dealers cant start a thread about their classified ads… I think we have enough in place right now to protect the members right to sell their cars.

I am wondering if we have a policy in place about the number of new Viper listings Sponsors can list…If we don’t I think we should. I think this area should be for members/enthusiast who do not have another venue to list (i.e. a dealership website). I can see our newest Sponsor, taking control of this section of the classified if we do not have a policy. Your thoughts…..

      Jeff
