What region presidents attended the meeting and how were the committee members chosen?

Is a membership committee made up solely of current members going to accomplish much to drive membership?

I’ll edit the original post shortly to include all in attendance, and all who volunteered for the committee were accepted.

Each member is a region president, each grew their region in 2021, and each has a good handle on their membership needs. We will also draw input from other regions not on the committee.

Our first initiative has already started rolling out to regions. It shares the strategies that other clubs used in 2021 to increase their memberships. Lots of proven techniques that other clubs can use. We’re on it!

Effective last night at 1:00am we are at 1012 (last updated – 22 January 2022) members.

These 1012 members (updated) include 981 (updated) members + 11 members (brought forward from September 2021 – proceeds not included in 2022 balance) + 20 Spirit of Viper (proceeds not included in 2022 balance).

We currently have a positive cash balance of $2,724 (updated) and did it with 100% only Membership dues!

For anyone who joins from this point forward, they will continue to feed a positive cash balance for the remainder of the year – again this is a balanced 2022 budget without using any advertisements, web sponsors, or other cash receipts. The plan was to be balanced with just membership dues – done.

The funds collected going forward will be pooled for a decision at the end of the year (Oct 2022 BoD meeting) to keep some or all of the cash for a reserve/buffer or to pay down some of the debt early.

Region presidents were invited to participate in a general discussion about topics related to general membership.

      Topics included:

-The need to better understand our varied membership, with ages ranging from Millennials/Gen Y, Gen X, Baby Boomers and those well into their ’80’s.

-What characteristics do various generations have?

-How can the club best relate to and engage these various age groups?

-What different forms of communication are required to most effectively reach all members?

-What types of club activities do they like and participate in?

-The need for the club to embrace social media that many younger members prefer.

-What website features do members want?

-What new membership classifications/types are needed to address all owners needs?

There are obviously many questions to try to answer, all designed to help the VOA and regions appeal to more Viper owners, and that’s the purpose of forming the Membership Committee.

Participant’s were ask to volunteer to form this committee. Madison Hurst (OK), Mike Sutton (MCVO), Bob Bierman (Western Reserve) and Bruce Hadfield (Ontario) volunteered, with Madison volunteering to head the committee.

The committee members will now start their work!

      Bruce Hadfield
