The committee of region presidents and others, including myself, was formed on Jan 11th and our first meeting was last evening. Our goals include creating and providing the resources that regions need to grow their memberships effectively, and ensuring that national’s efforts support that goal. All committee members have experience in growing their own memberships, along with Mike Levy who is the VOA’s regional Development Director.
Regions face many challenges that sometimes makes it difficult to maintain membership against the normal attrition caused when members move or sell their Vipers. Efforts to increase membership can require many changes within the club, including finding the bodies to help roll out new initiatives and provide effective outreach to Viper owners who have never been members, and to past expired members as far back as 2014. Finding those bodies willing to help is key.
Our committee efforts to help region boards started last week with a new thread in the Officers – Private Forum where those of us who have grown our clubs started to outline exactly how we went about doing that. Other posts and threads will follow, and our committee will be offering one-on-one assistance to regions that would like some guidance and inspiration! The toughest part is probably getting started, and again, the biggest single challenge is having the help to do the work. This is STEP 1.
Our committee is working on specific recommendations which we will present to the Board, and we look forward to doing that. And the take-away here is this…the entire committee is very optimistic about the impact we will have on regions, and growth of the VOA!
